Hi.

Gonna try and keep this as short as I can.... Have posted before about my gelding he had best part of a year off due to my pregnancy. When I brought him back into work (light hacking in walk) he seemed to be struggling down hills, slowing down and a bit footy! I have had back done and my saddle checked all fine.

He is now obviously lame in trot. It looks as if it's right shoulder lameness but know that even if it looks like shoulder lameness it rarely is! He is going worse downhill now, mincing and shorter strides, tripping/stumbling front legs!

I have the vet coming out Tuesday morning but want to know of any ones options/experiences with this sort of problem. I am preparing myself for the worse!!:(
 
Sorry if this is a repeat - My friend's horse started to struggle going down hills. He would walk sort of diagonally and it you didn't hold him together quite strongly, he stumbled. He also went so, so slowly. His back, tack and teeth were checked. He then started to show signs of lameness in the fores and was diagnosed with navicular despite nothing on the x-rays and no MRI taken. He had bar shoes and TBH his hooves now look a bit worse than they did. However... after many months of this he was finally found to have an ill fitting saddle. The saddle was changed, his back was treated and the lameness went, as did the struggling down hills.

That's what I have in my head navicular!! I have just had his saddle check and it had to be flock at the back!? Will have to see what the vet thinks!
 
Update,
Keep forgetting to up date. Have the vet out did full work up was 100% sound. But his back was sore in the area where the saddle had to be re flocked. He had 3 weeks off on bute, then worked in hand to strengthen up now riding out right as rain!!!:)
