Lami in a pregnant mare??

Is it possible? Not for me (I have a gelding!! ) but for a friend, can a pregnant mare get lami?

Yes they can, and not necessarily from being too fat, sometimes if they are a bit stressed it can bring on laminitis.

Can be from Cushings as the pregnancy makes the cushings worse. we have had mare with it

I think its one of the old wives tales that a pregnant mare can't get lami, but sadly one that many people still believe and so put the mare in foal to stop them getting lami.
