Hi, i have a very good doer pony who hasnt had laminitis but tends to get a pulse in one foot with spring grass so needs managing.

He has had turn out morning to early afternoon this week, gone pottery over stones and has a raised pulse in front today? Grass doesnt seem to be coming through - he is on good quality hay ( no more - now soaking it!!!!) not over weight - maybe i have been over feeding???? anyone else have a clue!

The grass if definately starting to grow here - my cob and the ponies are all on restricted grazing already.:o

My WB (who isn't laminitic) left three lime green loose poos in the school this morning - has been on 24/7 turnout for 48 hours - o and he was behaving like an eejit!:eek::D

The grass is starting to grow in my fields - 600 feet above sea level on the side of a fell in Lancashire - so the answer is definitely yes. Plus we are still getting frosts - frosts plus new grass is a recipe for disaster. Sounds like your pony has the early warning signs - get soaking that hay and why not turn out at night and bring in for the most dangerous period early morning and through the day? By the sounds of it he definitely needs his grazing restricting.

thanks - he is in sulking - hay soaking for tonight , heat gone in feet - did have small stone lodged which may not have been helping along with stone path to and from field - so fingers crossed

Sounds like he's just got sensitive feet atm; mine have been a little pottery on stones due to the wet weather causes softer soles.

I'm sure he will be fine,, but always better to be safe than sorry;

The best times for grazing is between 7pm and 10 am ( approx) this is when the sugars are at their lowest :)
