Not my pony but was asked to check it, it was showing signs of lami today and has a red line that's roughly a inch from the edge of the front of the hoof and curves round with the hoof so is always a inch or so in on the sole.
I'm not getting involved as its not my pony, but it's playing on my mind a lot now.
My mare had acute laminitis last year but never had that red line as there was no dropping/rotation of the pedal bone. Is this a sign that it's dropped/rotated?
Thanks

Yes its crescent bruising which is a sign there is rotation. It's unusual to see that though when a pony has only just started to show signs, has this pony had lammy before? Mine had lammy last year but we didn't see any bruising until feet were trimmed about 6 weeks after the initial attack.
Good luck x

oh no :( the owner should definitely get x-rays and pony needs to be on complete box rest with appropriate support to his feet and pain relief. Good luck x

Hopefully she will do right by him, makes me very glad I realised mine had lami straight away so there was no lasting damage to her feet! She was galloping up and down the fence line yesterday so good to see her like that after seeing him yesterday :)
