My mare is now on one bute twice a day (started this am) she has been on two twice a day for just over a week and over weekend had one and a half twice a day, tonight i could feel digital pulse again although not bounding and didn't feel it for first minute. She's not lame in stable. Should i up bute back to one and a half??

Also i'm giving her two wedges of soaked hay am, one pm and two in evening, is this too much? Vet said that was ok but someone i work with said cut it down to one am, one pm and one evening. Poor horse she's so bored that i feel cruel reducing it even more but obviously if it's for the best i'll do it, getting some very small hole haynets on wed's.

leave the bute at 1 each end for a week or so then cut it down to one a day... bute will not stop the digital pulse. what sort a quality is the hay? personally it sounds like a fair amount but if it was me i would be giving her her largest amount of last thing not first thing in the morning.

If she becomes uncomfortable on the reduced bute, up it again.

Hay - what condition is she in and how long are you soaking the hay for? The laminitic I help look after is slowly recovering from a very, very severe attack and she's getting ad-lib 24-hour soaked hay now she's lost the necessary weight. Before that she had two sections per 12 hours (again soaked for 24 hours).
Bute - as long as she's in no more pain on less bute, stick to the schedule I assume your vet gave you. As loobie_lou said, the bute won't stop the pulse; it only helps to reduce the pain and inflammation of the laminae.

I would leave as is and take your vets advice over and above any of these 'experts' at work and on yards. You should never starve or leave a laminitic horse without fibre for long periods, so keep feeding the soaked hay as you are. If in doubt, talk to your vet first.

Naff de-tox is supossed to be good for Laminitics, helps remove the toxins int he body which is what causes it.
Sounds like our doing all the right things, just follow your vets advise

use nettle herb that will mopp up the free radicals in the body give bute 1 morning and night i would give 1 section of hay morning pm and evening soak it well for about 30 mins to an hour! but it in a couple of hay nets so it lasts longer if you thing she is uncomfortable top bute up to 1and a half morning and 1 and night if she is still uncomfortable give one and half morning and night!

Carry on as you are, you are doing a great job.

If you have any concerns speak to your vet.

I agree with Pottamus.

Hope you horse recovers soon.

feed her her soaked and rinsed hay and reduce the bute.
as long as shes not lame i wouldnt increase the bute.
you can give her a fair amount of soaked hay as its almost all fibre-which she needs for her gut.
my 15.2h ISH mare got about 6 sections of small bale hay per 24 hours, soaked for 5-10hours in fresh water out of two small holed nets.
she recovered well with no rotation.
she would get so stressed being in without much to munch on she would have box walked even more if i hadnt fed her a decent amount of hay.
she also had 2 sections of barley straw per day.
