Laminitis help please

I did have him on a dengie food - can't remember which one now but it made him drop too much weight too quickly and topspec so far has been quite good for maintaining his weight and also his well being but I think I might need to find something else whilst he has the laminitis.

My lami-prone, but not overweight gelding has soaked hay ( ad lib) Dengie sugar free hi-fi, speedibeet and pink powder, but he does not as far as we know have cushings/EMS. Does yours still have pulses in his hind feet? I'd be very wary of any moving around if there were still pulses. Have you tried adding oil extra calories without the sugar?

His pulse has gone down a lot in the last two days which is a promising sign, I don't think he needs any extra calories as he is at quite a good weight at the moment, however I will be changing his food slightly tomorrow to topchop lite and antilam balancer instead of topchop alfalfa, cool condition and balancer. Apparently the Antilam balancer is fine whilst he has laminitis as I spoke to topspec this evening, they said it will also help his recovery. His hay is soaked for 8-12 hours with water changes inbetween to leech out any sugar.

Top chop lite still has alfalfa in it, and the antilam isn't that different to the top spec lite balancer. Be wary of taking feeding advice from what is essentially a sales person

I would also order some angus castus. You can get it on ebay from a seller called progressive earth (who also make what I think is the best possible balancer for hoof health, Pro hoof). Angus castus is not expensive and has been shown to improve Cushings horses.
