I have just catched up my welshy to find him very sore on his fronts on the hard ground. Sound on school surface or in his field but very sore on the Tarmac. Shifting his weight a bit. Heat in hooves.

Chucked a few bales of shavings in his box so he has a massive bed and have left him in with a well soaked net.

I've never had a horse with the disease before so I'm very panicky. Im calling the vets first thing and have the farrier due Monday.

I'm lost. Someone tell me what to do for the best. He's not even that fat, certainly no different to your average 'show condition' animal.

Dont panic , what you have done is correct if its lami . If it is you MUST keep on box rest for at least 4 weeks ... no just letting him have a wonder around the yard etc etc . Any movement breaks the connective tissue that holds the pedal bone inplace . So as still as poss. nice deep bed to offer support for his feet. Put in the search box Laminitis and it will bring up pages and pages of info. Fingers crossed for you.

Well you've made the right start, deep shavings bed and soaked hay. I'm so sorry, it's such a worrying condition. Horses don't have to be fat to get it and the grass atm appears to still be high risk.
If you click on the diet tab there's a link to an emergency diet that I have found very helpful. You may need to rinse the hay as well. http://ecirhorse.org/

The vet may well want to take bloods for PPID (Cushings) and IR and don't relax the diet, I know it's a slog but so worth it.. x I wish you the best.

ps.
Box rest needs to be guided by response to treatment/diet and vet and farrier advice. There is no set time it depends on an individuals response but I can't stress enough how important being very strict with diet is and ensuring no one is sneaking treats etc.
