My horse has been out 24/7 for just over a week now. his digital pulse rate doesn't go up, which is good. 40bpm each leg. But its gets stronger a bit like throbbing, in the evenings and goes down by the morning and can hardly feel it. Any ideas why this could be? I
This is in all 4 legs.

Thanks

Hes 24 and got laminitis in June for the first time, but he was very fat. He is the perfect weight now I think he lost 40kg. The field he is in is a steep hill. He is not being ridden at the moment. Thanks.

Always treat possible laminitis as laminitis. If you're new to managing it, get the vet and in the meantime hay soaked for at least one hour in lots of water and well-rinsed, deep shavings bed and no grass. Until you know it's not, it is.

Has your pony been tested for PPID?

Thanks, Its strange how it goes down in the mornings. If he was getting laminitis wouldn't it just go up?
No he hasn't yet, he shows no signs of cushings, and his vet who treated him never suggested cushings. Otherwise would of got him tested straight away. Thank you for your reply.

Laminitis can be a sign/symptom of Cushings, I am surprised that your vet didn't suggest testing.

How much does it cost to get a horse tested for Cushings?
Also what's the average price for scoping a horse for ulcers (this is for another horse)

I think it was about £80 so not much.

You can get a voucher as well. I am surprised vet did not suggest testing for Cushings at age 24.

My vet suggested screening every year for Cushings for horses from 16 years old onwards even if no symptoms to pick up it up before it becomes a problem.
