Can't decide - help?

Option one - try a greenguard muzzle (at £42.50) on each horse, as the bucket ones have rubbed. Take the risk that - it might rub, the headcollar could get caught on something..

Option two - strip graze within the field (it's large, there are 3 other horses there who live out 24/7, mine would be out daytime only). Set up a reasonable paddock with electric fencing and a good battery, move it a little as necessary.

Avantage of option two is that it's unlikely to go wrong (with a strong enough battery), and that both horses are protected from kicks etc due to herd arguments.

Still not sure what best though...

Ok mine still got it when he had a muzzle on so I am now trying stripgrazing. I had every faith in the muzzle. I thought he could actually get quite a lot of grass through it.

Definitely Option 2.

I've tried muzzles on my lami pony - she can get out of one within the hour, rather worrying as I am at work all day.

I use the electric fence option and find it works great for me. If I need to create a new playpen on fresh grass I put one of the other (non laminitic) horses in it overnight so it's well grazed down for Maisie the next day.

The best place for a laminitic pony is in a paddock without much grass.

they should be fed hay, have access to a mineral/salt lick and water

They should not be feed anything else, no cereals or legumes.

They should have regular exercise
