Hi, brought my mare in tonight and she stood like this. Was slow walking up the field (it was very hot sun though) and seemed lethargic (could just be lazy ID behaviour). She is only 3 and a half so quite underweight and her paddock has minimal grass. She has a small fibre based feed a day. If it is slight lami how is this possible :confused:

Ps hope pics work, never done this before :D

Can't see pic Hun :-( however if you even suspect lami I would drag her into a stable and call vet too be sure. Hope it's not xx

Ffs :'( I copied and pasted a photobucket link on my iPad, should that have worked or not? But thanks, brought her in to be safe and will call tomorrow if still strange xx

Does she have raised pulses?

I would always be cautious and treat a horse that possibly has laminitis as if it does have laminitis, until it's proved to not be the case.

No, but her feet were very slightly warm. Don't know if this is just because she was stood in direct sunlight (or am I making excuses here). Yeah I brought her in to be safe and will monitor. Just don't understand how it could be lami though?

Looks like shes just sleeping in the sun to me! But trust your instincts, if you thinks shes not right then maybe theres something going on....might not be lami though, could be something more innocent!

Is there any heat in her feet and can you feel a pulse? Does she back up, turn on the forehand ok? Had the farrier recently?

Yeah she just seemed a bit slow walking up the field, could just be being a lazy youngster though :p I hope it's something more innocent and I'm just being a paranoid mum!

There's slight heat but no pulse. And yeah he came about 2 weeks ago, she's barefoot and has good feet. But did seem a bit reluctant to turn into her stable (again, that could just be lazy draught-itis)

Was really hot today, so not surprised her feet were warm, everything was! Check her feet tomorrow morning before it gets hot and if heat still there then maybe something going on (you could always feel the feet of another horse on yard for comparison!)
