Laminitis or??

My pony went footy about 4 weeks ago, so I reduced the grass she was on (from not much to less). However, she carried on with this mild footyness with a very slight head bob in trot. I got the vet out last week who said its possibly a very slight low grade laminitis although she said the lameness was so slight she'd still pass a vetting. So she's been in for 5 nights, I was hoping to see some forms of improvement but she still seems not quite right. She can walk over stones no issue just a little short in the trot.

How long would you normally expect before you could see a difference? Although she isn't huge she is carrying a bit of excess weight so I'm trying to get that off her but I was really hoping I'd see a change by now. She isn't showing any other signs of laminitis (unable to feel a pulse, feet aren't hot, she isn't shuffled under herself etc.)

Any advice would be great.

Have a look at The Laminitis Site, they have a facebook group which is great and very helpful.Perhaps remove her from grass completely and feed soaked hay only, plus supplements that will get the weight off her.Think about testing her for insulin resistance too.

Thanks I'll take a look. She's been totally off grass on soaked hay and a small feeds with supplements only for 5 days. I was hoping as it was so small it would have improved by now but she looks the same so worried it's something else.

I haven't but she's only 4 so I'm guessing it's not high on the vets list although not totally impossible. I did wonder if she should be tested for ems but this is the first time I've called the vet.

Although I'm normally the first to scream 'laminitis' and wear sack cloth and ashes, if there's a slight head bob in trot, wouldn't that indicate the lameness is in one leg? As there's no heat, pulses, change in stance, could it be that she's tweaked herself further up, say in the shoulder?

Farrier is annoyingly away but will be up in 2 weeks.

Interestingly (she has only just been backed so I've not done anything to cause this) the vet said she felt a very small splint in the leg she is most unsound on. However, she went down the laminitis route first as she was a bit overweight. So it could possibly be that.

The vet did call today and said to stop working her (she suggested working on the soft to ensure she was using calories but not hurting her feet) and give her a week of nothing and see how she gets on. I hate lameness it always feels like stabing in the dark.
