Update on Josie - had a real scare on Sunday morning, she was lying flat out when I came down to feed her, groaning and looking not good at all. I rang the vet immediately, managed to get her to eat her breakfast by sitting with her and she would grab a mouthful then lie back flat again. Really thought it was time to give up, she didnt seem happy.
Then 10 mins before the vet arrived, she got herself up, I put a haynet in to see her reaction and she tucked straight in.
Vet said she probably needs more painkillers as shes on a really low dose considering what she has, so we upped her bute again and shes alot more comfortable, also ive been spreading the bute out which seems to help, abscesses burst again yesterday so Im wondering if she was so sore on sunday due to more pressure build up.
Fingers crossed these abscesses will hurry up and clear so she can be alot more comfortable.
Hi everyone, Josie has picked up since the weekend, much brighter and happier, the abscesses have stopped weeping and Im trying to wash them each day with epsom salts and bicarb of soda (as recommended by Dave Nicholls the farrier) The last two days she has been a complete pain to wash her feet, trying to spin round and throwing them around, making life quite difficult - but this is much more standard Josie behaviour again so lets hope this is a good sign! Vet back today to check her over
