When is the risk of laminitis contracted from pasture over? My boy has had a bout of laminitis this summer and is on a very restricted paddock, only let onto the rest of the land with a grazing muzzle for a few hours. I would like to be able to let him out unrestricted at some point but not sure when it is finally safe to do so. Was hoping maybe next month???

NEVER I am afraid. It's a 365 day thing. Unfortunately there is no such thing as a safe time for a laminitic.

September is a particularly high risk month I'm afraid.

Pretty much never I'm afraid although in the really cold winter months he/she should be ok.
Autumn is a very risky time as there is another flush of grass so definitely don't put your horse out in a few weeks time!!! but I would say these days I wouldn't risk it until about January/Feb if at all...

I'm afraid laminitis and sweet itch seem to be almost year round problems these days...

Yes, i am with the others, i have a lammi prone with bad rotation, i do not see any month as safe any more

If your horse has had lammi i would never turn out on much grass, just a risk not worth taking imo

The risk of laminitis is never reduced if the horse has already suffered a bout.. It involves careful management and judgement.. The horses really dont care ask long as they aint starved if im honest.

with horses with lammi there is never a safe time but the worst times i would say is spring and autum when the grass has a spurt and any time frost is around i say the safest time if any is arond november when the grass stps growing for the winter!
