My horse has bouts of laminits and they come every three months, she gets better and runs around looking great and just when I think she is going to be okay she gets another one. I have had a vet out here, and two farriers, she just had front shoes put on to help her and she was doing great until she started to get foot sore a week ago, I am giving up hope she will ever get better. This has been going on since last June. She is on low sugar hay and I started to give her Herio about two months ago which really seemed to help. Has anyone been through this?:(

Laminitis tends to be a symptom of another underlying condition, such as EMS or Cushings. If your horse is getting this every 3 months then I would be concerned and would want another vet to come out to see her for blood tests. Changing her hay isn't going to solve the problem, there are so many other lifestyle changes that need to made.

this you need to get her tested it sounds like she is getting low grade bouts at the moment but it won't be long until she ends up with a full blown attack, I can't believe your vet has not suggested this I think I would be changing vets.

As others have said, there is probably something else going on which needs investigating. If she has Cushings then she should be on Prascend as this will help fend off the laminitis. Try looking at The Laminitis Site online - there is so much helpful information on there especially about feeding laminitics.
