Hey Southwestwhippet, when I was a kid, the instruction was to stand the pony in a stream for half an hour. The a few years later, that was poo-pooed and warm was the order of the day. What goes around comes around though, and I read quite recently that iced water was the way to go.
To the OP - call the vet. There is no such thing as a touch of laminitis, just laminitis and every case can be fatal. He should prescribe total box rest for several weeks, oat straw to eat or poor quality, soaked hay, sedalin to keep the pony quiet plus it is a vasodilator, and lots of bute, plus very frequent re-visits from him. I recommend magnetic boots too.
