Lamton Rose....LATEST

Would it be worth contacting her owners and seeing what their plans are just to reassure everyone?

Well Steamed, you did try to stop people being abusive and think in the best interests of the mare.....it's so tempting to get on your high horse some times, but it is always best to wait until the animal is OUT and SAFE before the slagging starts...egos always seem to get in the way :( and people forget about the animal before they open their mouths.

But if she does stay at home I hope she has a happy retirement.

If you own Rose or know who does own Rose and are reading this PLEASE PLEASE be assurred that we neither care or want to know why Rose was at the sale.
If you have gotten into a situation that dictates you can no longer afford to care for Rose then the offer of a lifetime home for Rose still stands.

The FB group has no issues with you.
No one on the original page has any grievnances with you all we want to do is offer a home to Rose.
There will be no come back on you and should you contact one of us, your details will remain totally anon. NO ONE will be able to find out who you are-you have my word on that.

Well I for one dearly hope that wont be the case, it would be a huge shame if the mare lost her chance at happiness just because someone, somewhere couldn't handle the backlash.

Lets hope the owner simply had a co-incidental moment of kindness towards Rose and she'll be retired in style.

I think it would be nice for her to be rehomed anyway.

They wanted rid in the first place that won't change because of some internet activity. They'll just wait for things to quieten down and then....

well who knows what.

echo this - total anonymity, please give old Rose a chance at total love and care

The Auction House has asked for EMW's details to pass on to the Vendor.

All is not lost, so, can we please, keep a civil tone on this?

Thank You.

Yeah!!
I have contacted Chris and James at York via web.

PLEASE PLEASE can we have no negative comments on this thread.
The original people who want to buy Rose don't care how or why Rose was at the sale.
For once HHO live by the saying 'If you can't say anything nice then shut the f up and step away from the keyboard ;P )

oh good god, I didn't think of that!

And if she does? There are many worse endings for an animal. Her owners would do better sending her to Potters than sending her to a sale. I don't think we have the right to become involved and if she does go for slaughter thats fine by me. Im not surprised the owners have withdrawn her (although if mine I wouldn't have sent her to a sale,) you lot can be very frightening when en masse!

I suspect the auctioneers themselves have removed Rose from the catalogue.

Hopefully if the owners do get in touch with EMW things can be taken forward in a calm & discrete manner by EMW themselves, or their appointed associates.

Please can we keep our speculation to ourselves on this. All anyone wants is for the old girl to pass her final years in a secure way. Circumstances are none of our business.

TBH the best thing is to ask tfc to remove these threads til its done - as people are bound to say the wrong thing without meaning to. Maybe proper radio silence is the right way forward??

Why don't you regime another one of the poor horses at the sale then?
I ask, because whilst it's lovely that a group of people are trying to give probably a lovely horse a lovely home, to me it implies that all the others at the sale deserve to be there whilst this one did not... Like I have said, the sentiment is lovely but I don't get it - is it like a famous horse or something?

*have just read a different thread on this subject, I think I get it now!*

Maybe this story will help you "get it".

While walking along a beach, an elderly gentleman saw someone in the distance leaning down, picking something up and throwing it into the ocean.

As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, picking up starfish one by one and tossing each one gently back into the water.

He came closer still and called out, “Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?”

The young man paused, looked up, and replied “Throwing starfish into the ocean.”

The old man smiled, and said, “I must ask, then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?”

To this, the young man replied, “The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in, they’ll die.”

Upon hearing this, the elderly observer commented, “But, young man, do you not realise that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can’t possibly make a difference!”

The young man listened politely. Then he bent down, picked up another starfish, threw it into the back into the ocean past the breaking waves and said, “It made a difference for that one.”

That's such a nice little anecdote thingy AH.

From my understanding April Blossom - it was the fact that not many people would want the old girl, renderring her chances of getting a good home ,far worse than the other horses in the sale.
