lancashire forum users?

tinsel imp- yes :) i've not been for years but from what i remember its just a really long sand track that you can baz about on. can't remember how to get there tho (i could if i was hacking but no idea where i can park box)

the way we used to ride to it we used to head behind the asda in the centre of radcliffe...but its quite long and you can actually get across the M60 over death valley (obviously on a bridge ;) ;)) so not sure where you'd park...

I live as close to Radcliffe as you can get without having to be associated with it, but I don't know where you mean. Does it have a proper name?

Perhaps its the one by Radcliffe viaduct?

Hi, i live in Bury and although i have not been personally been my hubbie has on his push bike, i sent him first to investigate and he said it was ok but was full of dog walkers, kids and bikes and we would be lucky to have a 'baz' on it for fear of knocking someone over lol, he did go at a weekend though so may be quieter during the week.

I do know they have spent alot of money on it recently, he cycled to it from our house and went round the back of Asda but said there was steps down to it and was unsure how safe it would be for horses and no proper parking.

There is parking next to the reservoir, but that trail is all concrete and unless you went on the res itself (which is quite uneven and not much ground at all) then there isn't anywhere for a trot or canter.

Just going off the res there is a trail down the river which goes past the stud farm near Newbank and you come out near the Radcliffe metro.

i just went onto google maps and found radcliffe asda. if you put it on satellite and find the little roundabout you follow a road that goes across the river in between two big warehouse looking things and then i think you are on the 'nature trail' (if you have an A-Z nearest road would be sion street
could well be rubbish, like i said, not been for years...

I live in Radcliffe and there are two really good rides, the nature trail is indeed from Sion Street (Asda) which we can get to from Cams Lane, it goes all the way to Kearsley, you can go through Rigley Woods, there are a lot of dog walkers and cyclists but its a good ride, with lots of smaller trails off the main one. There are steps up to it but they are very low and long, safe for horses, alternatively you can ride up the side of the steps. The other ride we go on is through Little lever to the old pub near the canal down onto Moses gate country park, theres a horse crossing over the road and you can continue to Darcy Lever, Leverhulme Park, across to Seven Acres......definitely worth a try.

Hi the above post is not the nature trail ride, that is a concrete cycle track near Elton res!

our yard is just off the nature trail and we ride on it all the time, you get occasional dog walkers and the odd cyclist but it is still a good ride although they havent put any new sand down for a couple of years and it can be quite boggy in places now.

As someone said you can get on it at Sion st Asda but not sure if you would be able to park a horsebox there, you can also go up outwood road and half way up on the right there is a small dirt carpark where you could park and get on the trail there, in fact there are quite a few places you can get on the trail and it leads right up to the motorway and beyond to Drinkwater park in Prestwich and there are a few trails leading off the main track as well.

so outwood road then for car park? i'm goona take the dogs on foot next week and have an eye spy.
i guess i could just take horse to asda and unload in the carpark there! i could then do food shopping after i'm done :D:D
