Any recommendations? I'm pretty sure we are paying over the odds at the moment so need to do a bit of quote shopping. Would be interested to know what others pay per annum/month for roughly equivalent set up and who you all insure with?

We have a Defender 90 TD5 hardtop, 1999 T-reg, done roughly 100k miles. Has modified wheels, all terrain tyres and uprated off road suspension (terrafirma) but otherwise as manufactured. Both OH and I need to drive it but not used for work for either of us apart from commute. Both of us are in our 30s, I have 10 years no claims, although did make a claim last year when my catalytic converter was stolen, but my NCB was protected. I've got 0 points on my license, he has 6 but tbh I may not insure him on the landy as he hates driving it, and he's cover TP on any car via the insurance on his car anyway which would be enough really for the rare occasion he drives Margaret the defender!

What do others pay to insure a landy? Bearing in mind she is a commercial which limits my choice of insurers?

Well not a landy but we are with direct line for Navara also commercial. We pay 700 for both me and OH, its only modifications is tow bar tho.
OH main driver 26 with 8 years no claims, Im named driver 23 with 5 years no claims. Its only used for commute also.

I have a 1998 Tdi 300..No mods..135000 on the clock..we use it for commute only my husband is the main driver and i am named driver..Hubby has 6 points i have none..He is 40 odd and i'm late 30's..made a claim about 5 years ago for a different car but same company.
We are fully comp with protected no claims..We pay £228 a year.

No not commercial but hubby also insures his 2004 Ford Ranger with the same company and that it commercial and he only pays £39 pound more..We insure with Bedford Insurance. They are brokers and our policy is with Aviva..

We insure a 2001 TD5 110 commercial with NFU and also have muiltiple other vehicles on the policy (2004 Nissan X trail, 3 motorbikes)

Total cost is about £700 for all of them, comprehensive, we are 40s, me clean licence, husband less so :-))

I find multicar policy a lot easier esp when motorbike dies and needs to be replaced, we just ring them up and swap the old one for the new.

1999 TD5 T Reg Defender 90 all the goodies chipped winch snorkel mud tyres piv lock etc NFU £350 and I am in my Fifties they wanted a a stupid increase this year so dug my heels in £10 increase and that annoyed me because of the low annual mileage.

Just stepping in to say I like that your car's name is Margaret. I used to have a Discovery and it had many names, most of which wouldn't be appropriate for a family-friendly forum (often, such names would be uttered when I had to renew insurance, as I never got it insured below £700). :D

Carry on...
