As per title...

I finally sold my lorry & got a 4x4... It came with a year's MOT so I thought we'd be okay for a bit, but no, exhaust probs already. Apparently it needs the middle bit with the ??oxygen sensor??

The car is a 3.4 litre petrol V6, the only people who do the exhaust seem to be the main dealers & they want £1,200. This was supposed to be my cheap solution to my moneypit lorry...eeeeppp...

(Perfect11s, please feel free to 'tell me so'...as long as you tell me where I can get a cheap exhaust first...)

I have tried a reconditioned parts place where you say what you want & people are supposed to text you with what they've got, but no-one has yet...presumably cos they can't get one either...

The cat is the only bit that's super-urgent. The rest would wait.

There is a hole by the sensor, I'm told, which is why it's grumpy til it's warmed up. It has been welded for now, but it really does need sorting.

OMG, Toby_Zaphod....very, very close. Ours is a 2000 / W reg. Do you think that would matter?

It would be such a relief to save all that money.

Have you tried ebay? My Mitsubishi L200 truck needed an exhaust & got one for about £50, hubbie had to fit it himself but it's worth a try.

Yes, I've been haunting eBay, but everything on there atm isn't suitable. I got a new bonnet for it from there for £50 & it's really good...just needs spraying.

Oh dear, apparently o/h rang that website & spoke to them, & they said that only Toyota do that part. You can't actually buy it from them.

Me, being naive, thought that you could just swan into kwik-fit with any car & get a new exhaust... Hey ho, live & learn...

Having "virtually" lived through the selling of your lorry this made my LOL! Glad you are seeing the funny (?) side of it. THere is a saying... if you didnt have bad luck you would have no luck at all :)

Hope its just teething problems but I am sending you many years of trouble free motoring through the power of the internet!

Good luck

Milneroffroad only has the tailbox...

FFS, how have I managed to choose a car that's IMPOSSIBLE to get parts for...??

I've also now tried a custom place, so ta for the suggestion.

Custom places are fab some times you need to take the car so they can measure up properly but well worth it, I had to do it for my legacy as the standard exhaust was far too noisy for pulling the ponies and subaru wanted £££'s! x

You need someone thats handy with a welder a smaller county garage the type of place that fix tractors mowers and cars or someone that does rally cars and maybe they could make something up useing a universal cat and welding the fitting for the 02 sensor back in ... or you could try find a part who link most of the car breakers and see if there is a second hand one anywhere?? good luck ....

I had my car's exhaust welded on holiday and it lasted for years - I have sold it now but see it occasionally and its still going strong. Presumably you don't need a whole new exhaust but just one part. I know for Mercedes, Euro Car Parts does non branded parts which you can use much cheaper. Surely there must be an equivalent for Toyota parts?
