Does anyone buy raw food from Landywoods? I know this is a stupid question :p but their price list quotes everything in 454g trays - how big is one of those? Is it the same size as the small blocks of frozen tripe etc which you can get?

They want a minimum £30 order but not sure my freezer is big enough!

The standard box of blocks I used to get from AMP was 400g (I think) so they are around 6 inches by 4 inches?? Might be completely wrong!!

If it's a stand up freezer with 3 draws, my old one would fit 2 1/2 boxes of 40 blocks in, so around 100 blocks (squashed and shoved in that is!!) !! Lol!!

Don't take my word for it though...would hate for you to order too much and be cursing me!!:p

We used to buy from Landywoods. Their blocks are awkward as they aren't flat which means you can fit less in. Stacking them in our upright freezer was a nightmare as we removed the draws to get more room and they just used to slide out!! I would say the blocks were about 5x4x3". We buy from Albion now and their packs are compeltly flat and square so you can stack them together easily and they come in sealed boxes which fit quite nicely in our chest freezer. The handles on the boxes from Landywoods always broke on the way to the freezer!! Albion packs are also sealed quite well so less mess both with storing and defrosting them. Landywoods are open at one end. Albion's customer service is a lot better too and you can order online and they'll call you back for payment. Their minimum order is slightly higher though i think and i think they are slightly more expensive but worth it IMO. Our dogs have never turned their noses up at the Albion stuff either which they did occassionally with Landywoods we found. :)

Brilliant thanks SO much Gina & Prince, that is exactly what I needed :):):)

I assumed they would be blocks like the "Prize Choice" ones I got from the pet store today (yes, I bought some just to see how they fitted into my freezer :p)

I will have a look at Albion and do some calculations, it HAS to be cheaper than the pet shop I know :o

No worries. I've just measured the albion pack and it's approx 5x5x1.5". Poor Bes thought she was getting dinner early and is now standing in the kitchen looking rather disappointed!!

Can't quite think how much would go in one small freezer but last time we ordered we bought 3 x 40 pack trays, 2 x 24 pack trays and two bags of bones and that went in our small chest freezer and our large upright one with loads of room to spare (think that cost us £90 including delivery etc).

Forgot to say they also shrink wrap the packs together in the boxes so even when you open the cardboard you haven't got 24 or 40 loose packs. They split them into about 6 or 8 i think. Thats quite handy for chucking them in the freezer. I can go and get a picture if it helps picturing what would fit.

I have measured up and can only fit 60 blocks into my slimline freezer :( That is just a couple of boxes - mind you, they are near enough to make it worth while thinking about going up there to collect :)

Thanks for the link :):):)

Phew good job you were around Gina, I've never ordered from Landywoods so assumed they had the same thing as AMP!! Sadly BOTH my freezers died and I can't afford any new one's so I can't ordered from them right now but they are excellent and like you said the quality is great! No wastage ever with my lot!!

Do Berriewoods deliver in your area? I can get 30 (approx 1lb) packs in each drawer of my upright freezer. They deliver every week and my dogs love their meat.
I have used Landwoods in the past but packs are not sealed so when thawing, blood goes everywhere.

No unfortunately they dont deliver to Gloucestershire :(

buy a large second hand freezer esp for the dogs! problem solved.

Just did that:o

Price comparison blatantly nicked from another forum: http://www.petforums.co.uk/dog-heal...-everything-you-need-know-42.html#post1947787

Have finally found a guy who supplies a greyhound kennels who sells green tripe (35p a lb) and chicken mince (same) plus sourced chicken carcasses. Really pleased cos I don't want to rely on deliveries when I can't guarantee I'll be home.
