Does anyone know what this place is like? Do they have clear round jumping on a surface or on grass.
Do you know if they do any work on their grass SJ arena?

Are you going this weekend? I went last year, but they have had a new surface put on so the actual comp will be on the surface, which apparently is really nice. Not sure what the warmup is like now. They do however water and look after their grass surfaces. Not fair!!!! I wanted to go, but I just can't. Will prob go in 2 weeks.

I used to go regularly years ago. The only gripe I had was that the clear round arena was VERY flinty, but apparently the ground has been improved a lot since I used to go. I believe it has also changed hands/ changed organiser/ some sort of management and is now much better. TBH I found it was a fantastic venue, it wasn't just some jumps in a field it felt like a proper showground (and for someone struggling to jump 2' and getting eliminated at the third fence in the 2'3" it was a fantastic experience!)
Have fun there!

wowee sounds abs fab!! Yes in that case- I will definately be going to do the unaff SJ on Sunday!
I will be the one who's horse is walking round over the SJ's rather than cantering as he is so scared of the jumps

Sorry that you wont be going this time, but am sure that I will bump into you at soon!

Forrest, will you report back please !!!
I'm trying to find summer SJ venues that run on a surface for the cripple and am struggling so far as Medstead seem to stop SJ through the summer!

Thanks PG !
Will definitely check out Sparsholt dates,

KM and Moreton are quite a trek but if they do BSJA I'd make the effort, will check out their webbys

Oh do let me know if you go, I live round the corner! I haven't jumped there for a few years but have heard they have worked hard on the place.

I went on the 8th April and it was on the new surface. Pony's first jumping outing. Fab. Lots of space in the competition arena and the jumps are nice too. The sand warmup is a bit deep but alright for a prelim warm up and then a quick jump (as the ground is so hard), and then you can warm up on grass too. They were harrowing it between classes as the surface hasn't settled yet.

They weren't using the grass arena, don't know if that will stay the case for the year??

Have been a few times this year, they have a new surface which has caused a few problems but they now have it sorted. All Bsja will be held on the surface and on days when they have both bsja and unaffiliated, the later will be held in the large grass arena, clear round is now in what was ring 2. They are also holding clear round evenings every tuesday from 4pm,again on the surface. The sand school used for warming up is rather deep but they are sorting that out, there is also a grass warm up which is obviously rather hard at the moment but where isn't!! They have really worked hard and i hope they get the support they need to continue. Hope this helps and makes sense!!
