My poor poor little boy is very unwell and is staying in Langford for tests. Does anyone have a contact number apart from the emergency one?

Just called. They were amazing. He is in ITU so he has someone with him at all times. He has eaten and is trying to settle to sleep. Wish i could sleep. Results from spinal tap in the morning :( x x x

My Mum used to tell me that "All the worrying in the World wont change anything" and she was right, but sometimes you just can't help it. I don't know what's wrong, but wish you well, and the outcome that you want.

Alec.

Thank you Alec, thats sound advice. Jax was rush in with neuro symptoms this morning. MRI has confirmed bilateral middle ear infections with an indication that it has spread to the brain. Devastated. He is only 20 months. Results of tests on the cerebral fluid should be back first thing. Praying for good news :(

We have just left him he's Very alert walking unaided, trotting, giving everyone kisses. I know he's not out of the woods but i do feel a bit better. He hasnt eaten today except a bit of chicken because he still feeling dizzy and sick :( poor boy x

As you say, 'poor boy', BUT, if need's be, dogs can go days without food, it's what they're designed to do.

If he has a bright eye, if he's making contact and if he's properly cognisant of those around him, then I'd say that he's made progress, REAL progress!!

Well done Woofer! :wink3:

Healing vibes coming your way, what a horrible situation. Thank goodness he's in such good hands. Hope you get much better news in the morning.

Thank you all so much. Visited at 1pm, he was walking on lead and was very excited to see us! He rolled over for a tummy rub, gave everyone a thorough licking and was very inquisitive. He was very interested in his chicken but too afraid to eat it incase he was sick. He did get tired and lay down before we left as can be expected. His poor ears are too inflamed for the vet to burst his eardrums and release the infection so antib's and steriods at the moment. He is far from out of the woods but i think i will sleep better tonight after seeing his improvement today. Thanks again x x x

His name is Jax and he is a 20month old french bulldog, which i heavily researched and bought from a KC recommended breeder. It all started on sunday, he was miserable, didnt want to bother with anyone and was off his food. I was worried but not overly so, as he can be a bit iffy. My partner stayed downstairs with him incase he needed to go out or anything. At 3.30am my partner woke up to Jax flipping off the sette and he had peed. Jax couldnt stand up and his eyes were flickering left to right rapidly (now we know its nystagmus :( ) straight to emergenecy vets in panic mode. There he was treated for dizzyness and anti motion sickness. She couldnt accurately diagnose him apart from its either ear or brain related. Off to bristol we went, he was mri'd which showed a cerebral legion, which means either meningitus or an inflammatory disease. If menigitus it would be caused by the pre-existing ear infection. Jax has presented no symptoms of an ear infection at all, poor boy must have been in agony :(

How awful, my first thought at your first post was meningitus but im no vet, I know inner ear problems can present with alarming symptoms in humans and animals. It must have been distressing to witness and obviously for poor Jax, animals are very stoic and can hide symptoms well. He is obviously in the right place and they have every facility there as well as the best vets, I hope and pray that he continues to progress. xx

Hi, Jax is home now. Thank you for asking, he came home on Thursday, he is completely bormal apart from slight balance issues. Still no diagnosis or prognosis, appointment in 3 weeks to discuss with the neurologist. The vet has told us to enjoy every day which has heartbroken me but we are keeping our chins up and our fingers crossed. Plus he is being spoilt even more than normal xxx
