Large bale straw

How much do people pay for large bale straw? and does it work out cheaper to buy large bales rather than smaller bales? Am going through small bales very quickly at the moment so think it would be a lot easier to buy in big bales which would last longer. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.
 
I've just come off straw and went back on to shavings as the YO put his prices up, however he was still cheaper than allot of people seem to be paying at the mo...anyway...

I was on the large rectangular (heston) bales and i was paying £25 for one. I used 1 bale a month for one horse.

I deep littered it so i had large banks and about 1 foot deep bed. I took out the poop daily and topped up with fresh straw (not touching the banks). Once a week i would lift the whole bed and take out the wet (which stayed at the bottom all week) and then relay down again.
 
I have used 1 big bale round barley straw and 1 big bale wheat heston [big rectangular]bale so far this winter, they were £12 each.
 
this is the most expensive i have paid for them, I was £20 for one a couple of weeks ago from one farmer.
I will get some when the other farmer delivers me my hay, he is only £15.
depends how much your small bales are whether it is cheaper., I have always found that it is. It is still way cheaper than shavings pus i much prefer mucking out straw and you can't beat a lovely deep straw bed.
 
depends where in the country you are. i pay £15 per 5.6ft rounds and delivered for nothing and little bales are about 2.50 here and you can defo get more than 6 bales out of a round. x
