hi how long do you think a large round bale of hay would last a 15.2 cob in winter that is out during day in at night and is a good doer so probably at top side would use two nets a day

In the winter I get through a large round bale every two weeks - I've got two horses, one is a good doer and one is not. So I'd guess at about 3-4 weeks, maybe more.

I work on the rough estimate that a 4' round bale = 10 average bales of hay.

In winter 4 live out QH types were going through 1 bale every 3-4 days, but that is also taking into account the fact that we have no grass whatsoever and I feed ad-lib anyway.

It totally depends on what size of round bale you are buying. If you are going for a small 4 x 4 softcore then it obviously won't last as long as a 5 x 6 hardcore. We don't make, or use, softcores so no idea on that one, but a big 5 x 6 hardcore should last a number of weeks but it would again depend on how much grass you have available to the horse.

One of our 1,500lbs hardcore round bales is approximately equivalent to about 20 of our small square bales.

So to calculate it more effectively, you really need to find out the weight and format of the round bales which you are considering buying.
