Hi

I have noticed a large oval shape lump under my ponies belly. It is a hard lump and it dosnt seem to be causing her any discomfort and is happy for me to mess around and look at it. It is about 20cm in length and 15cm width and 1inch deep. There are no cuts or marks on it. any ideas on what it is??
Thanks

Heamatoma? Mine currently has one too! We think he got cast and wacked it. He gets them quite often- They go on their own accord after a while.

My pony had this in May. It was an oedema and about the same size as yours. If you press into it with a finger you may find that it will 'pit' with pressure. My pony had a blood test and the result was high liver enzymes - possible liver damage. She was put straight on a liver-friendly diet and milk thistle. It took two weeks to go down.

Oedemas can be caused by many things, including trauma I.e. Kicking at her belly, low protein levels and heart problems. I would get a vet to check her out, if it's still there Monday.
