To avoid clogging up Karan's post about her lovely spaniel I thought I'd start a new thread as Cinnamontoast asked for some photos of my Large Munsterlanders
(admin please note I have permission to use these photographs)
I've got three 'munsters' now and am active in the munsterlander community which is a small and friendly group of gundog loving nutters!
Munsterlanders are classed as a versatile gundog in the hunt point retreive category. They originated in Germany and are closely related to the german pointers. They're a complex dog who needs lots of understanding but boy oh boy they are worth every second!
My oldest is Kaia, who is 9 1/2.
My first Munster and an interesting start. We call her our autistic dog as poor socialisation at the breeders left her lacking in some departments. Despite her nerves and special needs she is the sweetest, most gentle dog you could wish for, there isnt a single bad bone in this sweet girls body.
Next came Loki, now 8 years old
Loki was the pick of the litter and I have had a lot of fun showing him, competing at Crufts for 5 years and enjoying success. He is 'my boy' a real mommys boy who dotes on my every word. He is gentle, sensitive and loving, the typical big friendly giant. He has sired one lovely litter. He is one in a million to me and I will never find another just like him.
Lastly is the baby of the group Keiko, who is 2 1/2.
Keiko is Loki's neice, sired by Loki's Full Champion brother. Despite the relationship they are very different, Keiko knows her own mind, is a very headstrong out going girl who lives for her daily hikes regularly covering over 6km per day. She's a pocket rocket with bags of personality. However she also has a sensitve shy side and is a bit of a cuddle monkey when she's tired. She is now my show girl and we compete lightly throughout the year enjoying our little trips out together. I am planning on mating her on her next season for puppies summer 2017, very excited.
Love them all dearly xxx
