Help!!!! My 16.1 Warmblood damaged his hind suspensory and at the time was being kept on a dressage yard so I moved him to a lovely yard with loads more turnout etc. to have a bit of a chillout!! Anyway leg is fine but he has done a bit too much chilling and has got very fat. This yard is quite a way from where I live so during the winter Ive only been able to ride once a week, also there is lots of grass. So should I leave yard and find somewhere closer with less turnout? (horse is really relaxed and happy at the mo) or should I stay and watch my lovely advanced dressage horse turn into a blob!!!!!I am really worried about his weight but if I cant ride him enough he is never going to lose it is he??:(

You could try grazing muzzle clocks change soon so more time to ride in the evenings. cut out all hard food unless he on a supplement soak hay. If hes happy i would leave him there

If he's happy, leave him there, grazing muzzle or turn out at night bring in during the day, then he won't be too bothered by flies either.

How come you can only get there once a week ? Its a pity to have such a nice horse if he's done advances dressage to go to waste ?

You have to do whats best for him, if there is a nice yard nearer then think about it but you must be 100% about moving him
