We have a rather broad cob and would like to get a thin rain sheet for him, but last year he just ripped the shoulders after a nights wear, was just wondering what people use on their larger and broader breed of horses. any suggestions would be great as dont want to keep buying rugs that wont last. Is there a rug supplier for Shire Horses etc etc, thank you for reading.

We have a 17.2 hh shire x. Rambo Duo is his main rug but he also has a shires and a Masta lightweight that fit quite well. Amigo and Saxon are far too short.

I have a 14.2hh tank that wears a 6'9 rug to fit around her shoulders.

Weatherbeeta fit ok,
Shires aren't bad, only used the ones with the shoulder gusset
Mark todd used to fit but the new patterns have an 8" gap at the chest (tried to replace a stable rug like for like)
Rambo duo is too small, haven't tried the XL
Amigo fit with the chest expander piece
Premier equine fit her shoulder but aren't really deep enough round her neck, good for thin necked big shouldered beasties, looks like a maxi dress
Have just bought a gallop cotton summer sheet which is a lovely fit round the shoulder and neck, if their other rugs fit like that we could be on to a winner
Haven't tried masta, I've never seen them fit a horse properly
Haven't tried the big horse rug shop but may do when I need to replace something

Bit of an essay but I hope you find it useful
