Larger than normal....Bit

Hi. I measured my boys bit (eggbutt snaffle) and its 6.5". I cannot find one on the internet that's as big to replace it, they're all maximum 6" and I dont want to (sound mean) spend too much? Any ideas? Thanks (ps. I have tried ebay

) pps, I am ssssoooo addicted to this site that I am going to ban myself tomorrow for 24hrs for self preservation so if you could answer tonight that would be fab thanks again.

I was in a tack shop on Saturday and there was a lady in there also wanted a 6.5 inch bit. She couldn't find any on the internet either, and I think the tack shop suggested she tried speaking to Shires as they make them larger, but only to order. Might be worth a phone call... Sorry I can't be of more help!

Have you tried Shop4bits, have used them they are brilliant and get bits made for larger sizes. Google them and am sure they can help you.

Same problem here! Bert is between a 6 and 6.5 inch and it is a hell of a job trying to get one!

Bought a 61/2 inch loose ring snaffle from Huw Thomas saddlers on friday, only cost £10 , it was in some catalogue she rang up and they posted it out for next day

I think you are, you just measure the inside of the bit (that would be in the mouth) - ie not including the end of it that the rings attach to/go through.

I've got both mine from Ebay and didn't pay a lot for them. Think it was around £10 for a brand new 6 1/2 inch bubble gag and then I got a kangaroo secondhand bit ( for salivating) for around £6 with postage.

try ingatestone saddlery, they stock big bits. my boys a 6 and a half and they've been really helpful and post it out quick too.
