My son went to a party last night, and predicably came home steaming drunk. We have all been there! I picked him up at midnight, he didn't seem toooo bad, so put his clothes in the laundry (schnapps fight by the smell of things) and tucked him up in bed. At 2am Tawny, who had been picking up all day and was shattered (she sleeps on his bed) came and stood outside my bedroom door, barking. She has never done that before so I went to investigate to find Smallest, naked and very cold, lying on his sofa fast asleep. I got him back to bed, while she watched and wrapped him up in duvets and so on and then she got back on the bed and lay down with him.
How sweet is that? Whether it was for her own comfort I don't know but anyway, she did him a huge favour as it was a cold night and our house is freezing.
Why people have labradors... :-)

I hope he isn't too hungover! Our childhood dog used to lay by the prom of any visiting children, usually left out in the back yard. Funny boy!

Bear is less Lassie and more Skippy the kangaroo. He used to come in and stare at me very meaningfully. I'd say to him: 'What? Your brother has again hopped the fence and is trapped in next door's garden?' Invariably I was correct. He has a very expressive face!

It is his first hangover, he now knows why I tell him they are awful things. I have been doing laundry all day, dealing with vomit. Love 'em.
How clever is Bear!? A friend has a a springer and he tells her if any of her chickens haven't gone to bed, and where they are sleeping (usually up a tree). Clever boys.

Oh well done Lassie, I mean Tawny :) Urgh! Hangovers - dreadful things! I have all this to come with my two boys.

One "Lassie moment" springs to mind with me. I was out walking on the hill with my two GSDs and managed to walk straight into a wet, peaty bog and went up to my knees. I was quite stuck so called one of the dogs over to the edge and grabbed his ruff and told him to pull, thank god he did and saved the day. I am not sure anything worse would have happened than I may have got wetter, colder and smellier as I tried to haul my stuck wellies out, but I was very thankful to him.

My JRT used to come and find me if her sister got stuck anywhere (she was always getting stuck) and give me her "Follow me" face and then take me to her so I could get her out. She always seems to know if we are ill/injured, once she started licking round my mum's mouth a lot- three days later my mum got a tooth abscess. She was also really gentle and loving with my Nan when she was bedridden with cancer (despite not really being a 'people' dog).
The sweetest one was one day up the yard when I was trying to fix the nozzle on the end of the hose- the water was on, and suddenly with a very loud bang the nozzle sprung off, missing my head by an inch, and water squirted into my face. I screamed (mostly due to the shock of a faceful of cold water!) and my little doggie came running over to check I was okay. She was jumping all over me, licking me and really being OTT, even though she was getting wet and she HATES water! My other dog ran away scared!
They are amazing animals :)

Clever boy! Walking barefoot on a Scottish mountain would be no fun (assuming not dying of hypothermia in a bog I mean)..

So clever. My stepson has a WIrish terrier and a girlfriend who gets awful migraines, apparently the dog starts whimpering beofre she even gets tunnel vision, it shows how medical alert dogs work.
