ok some of you may have already read my previous post on the yard where I keep my boys, the YO is a maniac and is very rude, aggressive and threatening. All previous support on here has been so welcome but really I must find somewhere to move my boys, this morning I got the boys ready to take to their field and this man decided to start the tractor up and chase us down to the fields, he was really only a few inches away from my boys legs, they were both rearing and stressed and he carried on, managed to get them to the fields and the ar5ehole has topped my fields in the night - they were fine at 8pm last night!!! Now feeling incredibly worried as I still had to turn them out in there (hoping to god that they don't eat anything that has been cut!!) as my boy has recently come back from vets and has to be turned out due to his injuries. This man (not that he is one, he's a small coward!) also had another go at me at the weekend threatening me with alsorts. Now he also has it in for another woman that he also had a go at too, but apparently it is just his thing, he knows nothing about horses and slags each livery off to another and causes bad feeling, he always has someone on his hitlist and apparently I came down at the wrong time. I am so upset about this that I am even thinking about giving up. I have found one yard but they only have one stable and there are no yards anywhere near me. Due to all these goings on 5 people are going to leave but we are all in the same situation of not being able to find anywhere. So if you know of any where, south of cambridge, near saffron walden, royston or towards newmarket that has any spaces, or land with potential to put some stabling up then please let me know, thanks.
Choccies and tea for all those that got this far!!
p.s. do you think that I should report this man to the police for threatening behaviour (he is well known to them for beating his ex wife!) and also is there anyone I can report the yard to for being unsafe??

Hi - do you go to the Barn Shop saddlery outside Royston? Last time I was in there they had a couple of livery yards advertised on their notice board.

Im not sure which have spaces - and I dont have numbers (although I can try and get hold of some), but there are lots of yards near Linton on the way to newmarket. I used to be stabled over there, although I think my old yard is full there are quite a few round there with arenas ect or just fields.

Barn shop, Adams ark + the feed shop near sawston are good for adverts

Hi em1 and Crazy Hippo, thanks for the suggestions, been in the tack shops but will try the Barn shop this weekend as haven't been in for a few weeks. Nothing in Alan's ark or the country store. CarzyHippo - were you in Abington? as I believe they are all full over there, if you are talking somewhere different though would really appreciate some numbers and names if you could.
thanks

Hi

Sorry to hear about your yard issues. Sadly I think this is something that is all too common when having a horse at livery.

I have seen an advert in Horse Requisites (in Newmarket) for stables and grazing available around Newmarket/Cambridge area. Maybe try calling Horse Requisites and seeing if they can give you the number on the advert? I'd offer to do it for you but I'm not back there until the weekend.

I do think he should be reported, but I also think it would be wiser to do this when you've moved. If he's willing to do behave like that unprovoked I dread to think what he'd do to you or your horses if the police showed up tomorrow to interview him! Isn't there anywhere else you could report him to? I wish there was a blacklist of yards to avoid and then I wouldn't have to worry about finding a good one next year! Anyway, what I'm thinking is that the more places you report him to (or the more you spread the word) then the better chance you have of helping others to avoid the same situation.

You know, I wonder how easy it would be to set up a website that lets users 'rate' (out of five stars) particular yards? Just like you can rate books on Amazon and shops on eBay...

that is awful behaviour and can understand why you want to get out of there asap, are there any farmers in the area who do livery? even it it was grass livery as a temporary thing it's got to be better than where you are now

have you checked your local free-ads, sometimes you find livery advertised in there

You could also try the tack shops in Sandon - Sandon Saddlery and Sales of Sandon, also the girl that runs my yard knows loads of horsey people around Royston - she has just taken over a tack shop in Meldreth (was Cambs and Herts Equestrian, now Essential Equestrian - next to the butchers).

chillidragon - If memory serves me right then there is a forum that allows this. I can't remember the name of it at all but I do know it was set up using Proboards.com
Im pretty certain I know about it from using the IHDG forums previously.

Wow thanks for all your support to everyone, I will try Horse Reqs and Meldreth. Where are you based Pampas??
Jellyshake - I have looked everywhere and unfortunately the chap who owns this place is a farmer and bearing in mind his mouth runs away from him I would be blacklisted for miles!! We have also looked into renting somewhere as there are a min of 5 horses to move but the only 2 that were around were taken a week ago - not sure if that was bad luck or fate!!
Chillidragon - I totally agree, however what I didn't know was that he had a bad reputation before I got there and has kicked several people off for no reason and many with no notice. People on the yard have all said that he is a pain but they only stay as it is convenient for them - perhaps they would feel different if they were in the hotspot for once. I guess the main problem is that he knows nothing about horses and acts like he knows everything, only 2 other people on the yard know anything and the others haven't a clue - they will feed a huge bucket of feed whilst tacking up for a lesson and then work the horses hard, turn out with cut and dead grass and ragwort and so on. Luckily for them none of them have lost their horses due to their stupidity and lack of knowledge but in fairness I just keep out of it so as to avoid the situation that I'm in!!

Hi lochpearl...i don't know anywhere in that area...but if you go on yell.com and search for liveries or stables or grazing you might find somewhere is you havent already.

Hi Amy, thanks for the advice, I have searched everywhere on yell as on other websites, just getting so down about it all now, got some more tack shopes to try at the weekend so i guess i will just have to wait until I've checked every angle. In my contract there is a 4 weeks notice so as both of us have signed it he 'should' keep to it, but it still doesn't help with the way I feel going down there!

OOOHHH NOOO!!

poor you! I havent really kept in touch with whos got space at the moment, but i would have thought it would be a good time to get in somewhere before the winter again.

How about Wimbish yard? Also I believe someone there was also going to run the yard near Radwinter? Not sure though, but i do have telephone numbers if you need them from when i was looking.

he dosnt sound very nice at all and you will feel much better if you can get out of that situation, even if you just rent a field for a few weeks for the time being?

I hope your boy is on the mend? Do let me know if I can help in anyway. xxxx

thanks LaaLaa, they are full and I believe it is only full livery too, shame as it's a very nice please and 2 mins from work!!

Hi bec, Wimbish is only Full and it has got massive - if I only had the one to think about it would be ok and full would be fine. the girl that took over the yard I rented in Radwinter is charging 120pw and it's a hole!! Quendon is full! Prob is that I have one that wants to come with me and 2 other horses that want to stay with me if I can find something local, we are willing to even put up stables and as long as there is somewhere not toooo far away to rent a school off it will be fine as I can box them over. If you think of anywhere then please let me know otherwise I will look into the places that these lovely people have PMd me xx
