Last Date for clipping

I know some say you shouldn't after end of January, but any views or experiences? Thanks

i alsways do last clip in jan, did it on monday!

I was always told not to after the end of jan too but i done my last one between xmas and new year.

I have done it later when eventing for beg of March. Didn't cause a problem and I got round that awful moulting stage!

Mine was done on Saturday, but for some reason I was always taught 14th Feb - no idea why, but it has always stuck!

My horse will be done today, third time this year, and just wondering if i'll need to do him again before end of hunting season..

I fully clip my horses at least monthly throughout the year and the hairy ones more frequently if necessary. When they are in intensive competition work it helps me keep then scrupulously clean. Their coats shine and gleam - yes even the greys!

There's no such thing!!!! You can clip whenever!

The last date for clipping thing orginated from showing folk so that you weren't interfering with the summer coat coming through!

competition horses are clipped all year round its only really show horses/ponies that have a 'last' clipping in january

My last clip is the same date (Beginning Nov) as my first clip, Luckily my TB only needs clipping once!

The latest I've clipped was end Feb, and her coat came in beautifully for her 1st event end of March.
