He lives out all year, it isn't a huge cost but I have 3 others too (the one who can be sold now has a bad back so vet bills too). I lost my rented field in spring so have to pay for individual livery which has just gone up to include hay. I have to PAY my farrier now in MONEY and also rent/bills so I have absolutely nothing now that all my savings have gone. Gah, must check lottery ticket.

Thank you! Not really, one is off for winter, one has been off most of the summer and not had time to bring her back into work and one who I was intending to sell has just developed a bad back (yey for insurance).

I will probably need to work the youngster a bit and get her loaned out next month if I can.
 
Argh, that would be perfect but he can't go on fun rides. He's obviously lame in trot. The most work he could do would be walking out on soft ground. Darn it, but thanks so much for the help!
 
Theres not many fun rides on over winter, so maybe contact them and explain your situation? If you dont speak with them then you will never know. They may be more desperate for a companion than the need to ride out?
 
There are a few studs round out area, I'm in beds. Maybe google some of them and see if the want a companion to look after the young ones over the Xmas period?
That's what a girl I know did for her horse to had tendon trouble and wouldn't box rest.
I think he went to play with billy Crothers wife's horses.
 
I don't suppose you've ever tried him in hoofboots, OP? This might increase what he's comfortable with and even improve the navicular (was he diagnosed with 'disease' or syndrome?). Most boots can have pads in. It sounds as though he's capable of hacking with soft ground (or pads), if he's still up for a play in the field! :)

Just thinking that if hoofboots DID improve his condition, it might increase your options a bit.
 
Hi guys, contacted the lady in the advert and she has already found a pony. What a lovely lady though, she is going to see what she can do about anyone else locally.

Fransurrey, not tried hoofboots but have tried denerving, tonnes of bute and a variety of shoes/pads etc over the last few years and although is still keen to canter and jump (and did up to 2 years ago) he is very obviously sore on a corner, in trot or while bucking :rolleyes: (silly bugger).

I'm starting to feel that there won't be a miracle. I had a chat to him yesterday about how great pony heaven would be. He didn't believe me at first but I think he changed his mind when I told him that there was a neverending supply of carrots just lying around on the ground.

He says it's fine in that case.
 
Hope you find somewhere, but if not he has had a fab life with you and he's had a lovely retirement the last couple of years :)
 
Everyone saying PTS - I was GIVEN via PRELOVED *gasp horror* an old pony. Pony has never been happier. Horror stories are in the minority, its just people are more likely to shout about the bad than the good. As that saying goes - "bad news spreads faster than good."

Don't give up hope OP x
