As you can guess from the title, I haven't learnt my tests! :p

It's early tomorrow morning and I can't for the life of me remember this test! A bit annoying really, as I'm usually fine, just been putting off this one, for no good reason as it's the last in the dressage series, so fingers crossed for me! Any tips on quickly learning the test?! Obviously I've read and read and read it... but it just won't stick! Help yourself to a chocolate muffin for reading! :) xx

Well, I visualise the arena in my head, with A nearest me, and I trace my finger around the arena, doing the dressage test with my finger.

I think I have a photographic memory or something for dressage tests, I usually have to read it through just once to learn it, maybe twice for a hard elementary/medium. Pity my gcse revison didnt go in that quick :(

Good Luck!

I used to actually walk it out physically in my driveway, trotting and cantering at the appropriate places. I'm sure I looked like a complete fool. But it did help me learn them!

Oh, and I spoke the movements out loud as I did. There is something about speaking AND doing that helps reinforce them in your brain. I seem to recall reading that you use different parts of your brain for those things and so it's like you're learning it twice at the same time. Or something. :p

Practice it on foot round the lawn. Don't do it too quickly or the movements will seem to be taking for ever when you do it. Can you get someone to read it to you at the competition, if that is allowed?

I draw it out lots, and also I find it helps to sit down, close my eyes and imagine riding the test through, while saying it aloud. But if you're doing two I would imagine one to be on grass, say, and one on a yellow sand arena. Something like that! Just so your brain doesn't muddle the two tests together! Good luck! :D xxx
