I'm imagining we're all a bit busy! Also weather here is very windy and I think more forecast tomorrow. I'll be found on the sofa catching up on London International.

Lesson for me yesterday, on a horse I have only been hacking on before. He took some getting used to as much smaller than the big ID I usually ride for lessons, and a bit of a character in the way perhaps only native cobs can be.

To begin with instead of trot I got a wiggly worm! My leg on the arena fence or an inside shoulder saying 'byyee!' in a way that past me would have got scared he was going to bog off with me or decided I could not ride that horse. Actually current me though that too but kept riding!

Clearly I am more robust than at the beginning of the year because I could laugh at myself, particularly at saying 'get on with it, get on with it' repeatedly out loud to make myself keep trotting 😂

It was such a good lesson in how to keep straightness and manage wiggly worm shoulders. By the end we had achieved trot on both reins, on the track, and had a fabulous forward and connected walk at the end.

Work for a few hours today, sort out a ham from somewhere, get a gift for a 7 and 17 yo (ahhh!) then take them to a Santa thingy tomorrow. I still have to wrap all my gifts and clean the bathrooms and stables and get the food shop in. I felt like I was very organised this year but now the trains rolling down the tracks!

I'm wrapping the last of my presents whilst watching London international, cleaning the house for Christmas, buying some whiskey, coughing up a lung, riding (gently and in walk see coughing) or trying to. Really bad timing to get ill.

Well I’ve started riding lessons so that I’m not totally totally rusty when I start riding again . Assessment lesson including jumping. Surprisingly nervous! But it went fine and I’ve been slotted into a weekly stage 3 ride /jump lesson. I won’t bother doing the exams but I’ll learn a lot I’m sure .

Bottomless brunch and probably a hangover tomorrow 🙈

Some foot maintenance on the boys tomorrow, once I've eaten all the carbs, and maybe a hack if it isn't crazy windy.
I'm off work now so lots of playing with all of the horses over the next 10 days, with no time constraints which will be lovely 😍

I was at London International/Olympia yesterday.

I've sat on mine for the first time in about 3 and a half months this morning 🥳 Had a lovely 30 minute hack - he was very jolly and clearly thrilled to be out exploring with me on his back again ❤

Tomorrow will be another short hack out, hopefully.

Then just two more days at work between now and the 6th of January so lots of pony time ahead :)

Three trailer loads of poo this morning with the help of my brilliant OH, we just fly thru it together. Now sat with a cuppa.
Possibly having a run to Meadowhall later for a spin round M&S, and then a cheeky stop at Throstle Nest Saddlery on the way back ☺

As there was no thread last week I will post my activities from last Sunday on this one… suffice to say it was rather breezy & the curtain of tinsel had to be rescued about 5 times (the wing I’d wedged a water container behind was ok… the one that had an assortment of bricks & cones less so!) Foolishly attempted to have a go at liberty as well but combo of friends at gate, carrots in full view & wind made maintenance of concentration a challenge (& in hindsight I should never have started with the gate!)

Today we very briefly played with poles in a wind tunnel… when we started having to chase them around the arena I thought we probably ought to stop!

I took my youngster for a 1:1esson, indoor school about 3 miles away. We almost called it off due to the forecast, but though it's blustery it wasn't too bad. She was impressively well behaved with not a single spook in the lesson despite the various wind induced and horse induced noise and movement going on outside. She's proving to be very level headed.

Did you survive Meadowhell?? 😁 Guessing it was absolutely rammed.

Worked today but off until next Saturday now.

Bo and I are now the happy owners of a new Ghost saddle, so we are just building up hacking while continuing our groundwork.

Monday looking ok weather wise, so me may get tinselled up for our hack.

Didn't go🙈 maybe later today 😂

I recently had a ghost saddle on trial , I really liked it. Didn't go ahead buying one at the moment as pony NQR

Earlier this week, we had a jump round at a local arena, the same as the week before TBH, but there was no thread.

Friday we did ice skating and BH did a ride on the arena in the dark. Yesterday was hacking in the wind. BF usually rides BH now, as he is a more appropriate size, but Riggers is 100% windproof whereas BH is only 99% wind proof, so I swapped at the last minute. It was just a walk round the village and Rigs seems to love BF riding him.

Last night, we went to the Panto - Oh Yes we did!

Today, we are supposed to be at a clinic, but it is touch and go as to if it will go ahead. I'm fine to travel but many people are travelling from further north where it is both windy and snowing!

Hope everyone has a FAB Xmas with much tinsel on the horses!

Looks great! Bailey's eyes would have been on stalks and he'd have dropped me like a sacrificial lamb to fence two!

TBH, he isn't the bravest. Because of crap stuff happening in my life, his education has been very stop start. This winter is for regular little jumps round, just low, at many venues, seeing many fillers. Hopefully he'll realise that it is all easy.

TBH, his biggest benefit is how he is so kind and chilled generally. This is him last week with BF, on an open track, chilled out and being kind, doing his best...

It was BF's 22nd ever time on a horse!

Got bucked off in the car park 5 mins before my dressage lesson 🥹👍🏼
So kind of the little ginger bastard to get me a sore arse for Christmas.
If it makes it better, I am taking a young child skating in the new year so went a couple of times first as I skated 5 times when I was 15 and not since. I fell on my right hip once and my coccyx too. Ouch! Sore and not even from a horse!!!

I did the clinic today.

BH is amazing. He does everything asked of him with a smile. He is teaching BF to ride. He is ace but...

I think I may be in the market to add to my stable, one with a bit more gusto! Maybe something older with a manageable medical history. Maybe one that is perfect but a bit more expensive. Who knows?

He looks fab!
If you want a braindead 4yo I have just the thing 😂

I hope you're starting to feel better and lungs remaining in place!

I feel like I have no lungs left trying to shake this cold / cough off.

I hacked the microcob yesterday. It was cold and she engages slug mode at this time of year. I've had the vet involved for the past 2 years but we can't find anything so she obviously just isn't a fan of winter. Unfortunately she is a fan of eating and is currently porky so she can't have time off. Tracks all muddy so tack was filthy by the time we got back.

Baby cob does not engage slug mode. Anything but. He also has new go faster stripes shaved in. I honestly thought I'd chosen a route today away from the Xmas tractor run but we could hear the horns. We bounced back down the muddy track jumping all the fallen twigs. More tack cleaning! Pole clinic for him on Xmas eve and I will need a neck strap 😂

Need to shoot my tests for the e-riders championships but videographer has man flu.

We had a great trip to the beach, it’s not Henry’s favourite place, very very overstimulating for him. Today some gallopers were there too, just to add to the whole experience. Henry was so, so well behaved. Very worries about the gallopers but the actual water wasn’t a problem. It’s his third time and he’s getting more confident each time. I also picked the right friend to go with, we were home by 8 and she’s very competent and calm which is what we need!

This sounds like a potential slippery slope 😂

When's it arriving? 😁
Well, I have showed a video to my BF. Accepting that he has now ridden a horse the sum total of 24 times in his life, he likes it.

It is not 'correct' in movement or build but seems to be cheerfully getting on with life.

If it is not sold before, I will call them in the new year.
