Last weekend in October plans??

Second lesson went really well. I rode a horse I've only ridden a handful of times, once for a lesson ages ago and the other times on hacks. It was interesting! He's a cob and my instructor explained he's quite a sensitive chap in his own way, and will be a good teacher for me with my naughty gripping legs. Turns out yes, yes he is 😂 On the one hand, more responsive so a little easier to get bend/straightness at times, but at others a bit of a wiggly worm 🐛 For a bit we ended up just going fully sideways. Trot transitions I initially got side to side walking. Absolutely challenged me to be more aware of my leg aids. Sports psych stuff helped at moments where I thought 'oh heck!' (still inwardly giggling at the idea of channelling my inner Hyacinth).

A competition of two halves for us. Sammy felt very up for it, Medium 5 was such fun that l forgot to trot at C at the end 🤣. A fleeting thought was “he normally feels this forward in his second test of a day…I wonder what he’ll be like in the Adv Medium…”. 69.3% and overall first in the Medium.

My wondering was answered in the AM. He was against the hand, above the bit and having an absolute whale of a time while completely ignoring me 😝. Our trot work was good, canter at light speed and changes a complete shambles. We got our lowest ever score of 61.18% (possibly his lowest score in 14 years of BD…oh the shame…!). A friend had come to watch and commented on how happy he looked - at least he enjoyed himself.

One year ago we did our first test in the same arena and I could barely get him moving, went wrong twice and nearly retired. We’ve come a long way and my next learning is clearly how to collect him when he is feeling bouncy. Love him to bits!

Fabulous SP'd! I love a cob that says "No, not till you ask properly" 😂 (any horse, but i love cobs the most anyway!!)

I forgot to take a picture before she rolled but we have Sports Mode Sadie.

Me when my friend asked how far forward to go

I dare not post photos of the microcob - she was fine with the noisy clippers on one side of her face but not the other. The dog clippers would finish the job, but I can't find them!

Riding club clinic on Saturday was great although there were some evil rain showers. We were in the flatwork group first with lots of lateral work - first time leg yielding in canter! Which was quite an achievement as we were in full hooligan mode cantering round in a group. The jumping group were next door and there was a tannoy announcing stuff for the dog show in the indoor so it was Very Exciting.

Jumping after lunch was a bit of an anti climax because he had nothing left in the tank. He loves his jumping but could have done with some more oomph. Was pleased when the jump instructor told me how far he'd come since she saw him in our first clinic 6 months ago though.

Flipping cold today - did hack the microcob but she wasn't feeling her usual bouncy self. Might be weather change but she really needs some bodywork too. **grump** for the clock change too!

We decided to celebrate Halloween a bit early… pony now utterly convinced he’s landed in the mad house I think!

Photos for if link doesn’t work (I know FB & Instagram can be a bit dodgy on here)

I forgot to show the funniest video of the week... Saturday swimming.

It is cold water for sure now, and I have a new issue. When I swim, my face muscles stop working! I feel fine and know what I want to say, but can't get the words out.

Meanwhile I did better backstepping than I did driving and rara reassured me this would likely always be the case 🤣. Nerves just get the better of me sometimes, I think it doesn't help now knowing how good it can go whereas previously we've been much more of an unknown entity in that way.

It wasn't all bad, I really enjoyed driving the new dressage test to take the lead and was the closest I've been to rara's score and I ran first so did all the warm up (tend to always score better if she goes first as then I get the fully tuned up version ;) , couple of cones down and some time (I don't really like cones 🤣) 3 good obstacles with Storm being really helpful round some posts and one not really very good obstacles where I wasn't quick enough and then topped it off by completely ignoring what rara was saying to me, because you know, if you have a semi pro coach on the back it's best just to ignore them 😳 and carry on in your own sweet panicked way 🤦‍♀️. Hung on to 2nd somehow!

First time using the camera indoor though only did for backstepping wasn't organised enough to have it for driving this time round

So having read this forum and thread for ages I am joining in! We are normally hacking around the woods or doing fun rides and clinics but this weekend we went out and flew around a mini!! Team chase so unbelievably proud of my girl who found her next gear to keep up with much faster horses. So hi everyone!
Photo? We love photos!

Wowzers, yes, that photo worked. Where was this? It's just the sort of competition that would suit my boy!!!
This was between Cirencester and Cheltenham (Cotswold Team Chase), I think there are a couple of the mini events through the year, not sure where as this was out first one. All the courses hold Novice height which is the next one up but it is a huge step between the 2! Well it is for me anyway!

Yup the mini is new, I think it will be well used and hopefully will get introduced at more :), novice when you add the extra allowed in the height for a hedge will likely always be too big for me.

Great pic!
