Wow it's almost sort of nearly March!

I had to cancel my riding lesson as I'm ill, probably an accumulation of huge stress from selling house and not yet knowing where we're moving to in * checks notes * just over 3 weeks now... At least the weather is windy tomorrow so I probably won't have too much FOMO and I've stopped play the game of 'am I coming down with a cold, or is it Long COVID' because this time it is actually a cold. Fingers crossed feeling well enough to go to a couple of viewings tomorrow.

Back to horse related plans, I'm writing for BD Area Festival on Saturday and I believe we have a couple of HHO'ers there competing over the weekend as well so best of luck to them :)

Another windy weekend but I hope that everyone is able to get out doing something fun :)

Get well soon @SaddlePsych'D! Enjoy Saturday, looks like you’ll have the best weather of the weekend.

We’re off to Prestige for our Medium Areas tomorrow. Our test is in the middle of the worst of the weather, but it will be the same for everyone there!

Pretty relaxed weekend planned after that.
Keeping everything crossed it goes well for you and that the weather isn't too disruptive!

Good luck! I hope the weather gods are smiling.

I’ve had a hectic few weekends, but my chap has now moved to a lovely new livery yard that’s closer to home and with much better facilities. He’s currently in isolation, so no riding plans, but I’ll be popping over to give him scritches and remind him that I still exist, as he’s on full livery and I’ve not seen him on work days. I’m also busy organising his stuff in the nice space that I have for him in the tack room.

Saddle fitting tomorrow with a forum member (who I can't tag for some reason), which should be super interesting. After that - probably next week some time - I'm going to shave my cob 😆 in anticipation of the Great March Shed beginning soon. He's been blanket clipped and out unrugged all winter, but I just can't deal with the hair, and he's started sweating on hacks. OFF IT ALL COMES.

Had to cancel our lesson last night too as there was a bloody surprise thunderstorm, which obviously evaporated as soon as the lesson time arrived.

Did this a few weeks ago, only shaved half off but even a 50% reduction in hair explosion is appreciated.

Yellow wind warning tonight, might get a hack in tomorrow unless there is another weather surprise. Currently we have Plague of Frogs in the barn so is it blood rain that comes after?

Oh my word.....I was considering building an Ark yesterday afternoon, it rained so hard it went dark. I know this puts the Biblical timeline all out of whack but perhaps it would be useful as a backup in case of additional, hitherto unknown plagues?

A barn full of frogs is so bizarre you couldn't make it up! I hope they leave of their own accord very soon

I am the frog scooper 😂

Yard is beside a lovely little river that is idyllic for frogs, but they seem to like hiding in the haylage and jumping out at screaming teens.

I’m hoping our area festival will be postponed due to the weather but it’s looking unlikely… we have a back up plan on the off chance the bridges are closed to high-sided vehicles but like I said, I’m hoping they make the decision to cancel as I don’t fancy travelling in that wind

For some reason my brain focused on it being warm today and missed the bit about rain & high winds 😒

Had an arena hire first thing to work on cob canter. Lorry rocking in the wind, banners blowing, strange noises.... and the pony was 90% superstar.

Still hollowing and cob trot into the canter but so, so much better than we were even a few weeks ago. Needs some persuading to keep it up on a 20m circle (although did a decent pirouette after banner flew up!) but he's learning to take his weight behind now rather than just ploughing along like he's out hunting.

It is nice to have a decent large arena to work in - faff hiring but can't afford to build one!

We’re going to the Winter Championship!

Second place in our Medium Silver at Areas yesterday. Had I not fluffed our first simple change we would have a sash but I only have myself to blame. Getting to the Champs is amazing though and I’m very excited about Addington in April!

Sammy felt very perky and happy, really fun to ride and I had a big grin on my face 😁

They ran yesterday and today.
Don't know what they'll do tomorrow.

making the most of the nice weather today and taking diva to the gallops today, her first time she’s been to any and the first time i’ve been to this one in particular!

hoping to give her a good blast ahead of our first lesson (!!) on wednesday.

working tomorrow, so nothing horsey for then except hopefully a quick trip to the tack shop for more feed buckets😂

must say i’m really enjoying my new job, but feeling a bit rubbish about the lack of hacking we can do in the week now! when i go up in the morning it’s dark and i don’t have time to hack anyway, and when i finish its dark! roll on some lighter nights🤞🏻

We’re on tomorrow in the novice silver. Dad’s happy to drive so I think we’ll probably take the chance and go - we can divert via Stirling if the Kincardine bridge is closed

If anything, I could use the distraction as we said goodbye to the big guy yesterday and it’s all a bit raw at the moment 😕

Sorry to hear this BM :(

Brilliant result, well done!

What lovely weather today 😍 feels great. Hacked back to the yard early this morning turns out I've pulled my groin riding on holiday 😅 spook at a dead badger and OW !!! Tomorrow will be bur removal (more) and maybe a gentle walk school 🫣

Congratulations! That's brilliant.

@j1ffy that's great! Well done. Lovely pics.
@blood_magik really sorry to hear that.
@SaddlePsych'D hope you get well soon and move goes smoothly.

Myka is going to Joe for backing early (hurrah!). So yesterday I went to the grass livery place where Felix is to get some video of him, as he will come home to be sold as soon as Myla goes - ie fairly imminently. He's such a dude. But a free schooling session confirmed hes' just not the horse for me. Very laid back and relaxed, and not overly keen on expending unnecessary energy! Definitely more woah than go. I like buzzy horses. But he's so amenable and willing. And very friendly. I will miss him.

@Ambers Echo I've booked us into a Joe clinic in May and I'm a bit apprehensive. I'm trying to persuade a fellow livery to come to for emotional support. Mostly just because we can't do anything fancy and i feel like I mess up all the time and look incompetent 🤦

I've been to watch one already and I'm really interested to see what he makes of D as she's cracking but it's taken the best part of 2 years now to get her to relax consistently and I'm still not happy hacking by ourselves. I really just want to make sure I'm doing my best by her. Clinic is in north Wales.
@Cloball You'll be totally fine! He is the nicest man, and he is all about foundations so lots of stuff on the ground and in walk. Where is the clinic?
I gave up on doing anything sensible today as back to 60mph winds and sideways rain spent ages fighting the tarp on the hay. But the evenings are light enough now that I can potter for half an hour in the evenings.
