Could only see the solstice and mid June plans threads so started a new one, not because I've been up to anything exciting 😅

Managing to dodge the fractious weather at the moment it's hot, fly filled, windy, raining everyday! Lovely hack on Thursday as hacking buddy is back from her holiday, another hack Friday and we even managed a sensible canter through the woods for the first time in ages.

Had a lovely lesson this morning did some lovely walk piris and shoulder in. We've entered a July online dressage comp as a yard so have that to work on now as well.

Off for a flying visit to Scotland to see husbands family now so she'll have a few days off. Matchy matchy outfits 😅Screenshot_20250628-115601-956.png

I felt very guilty yesterday. I was convinced the hack i took the microcob on was around 6 miles. I thought after about an hour it felt longer - well it was almost 10. I had to get off for a gate at one point so hand walked her only to have my dodgy diabetic blood sugars plummet so had to get back on. She's plenty fit enough but it was really hot - got her best mare glare this morning when I went out in the field with the headcollar. She's got a decent break now looking at the weather.

Her field mate has early dressage just down the road tomorrow. Haven't even practiced prelim 3 because my field is so hard so considering it a training outing (they have a very nice arena surface). Otherwise I'm joining the cat in melting at home!

I had as fabulous lesson yesterday. Despite feeling a bit wibbly at one point. Partly the heat and partly a bit of a late night at our local on Thursday (I'd only popped in to pay my money for the charity quiz this weekend and then there I was 5 hours later... 😂).

I know it's not much in the grand scheme of things but we're nearly at a stage I can just think trot and we're trotting instead of still debating it another half length of the school later. And I managed a 20m circle of sitting trot each way, without breaking to walk, and without being all tense and gripping. That felt pretty impossible not that long ago. I suspect if we carry on this way we'll be cantering some time soon 😃

We nearly have a consistent proper working trot, without me being terrified. Maybe we'll do another eriders test soon. It will be great to compare scores to last time!

Day off yesterday then got up early for a nice solo hack this morning. Braved the field headlands and Amber was very keen. Silly girl was brave on the railway crossing but then slipped half way over so we’ll be back to square one there again. But foot perfect past the orange netting blowing in the breeze.

It’s overcast and very windy here with some drizzle! Went for a hack in between the showers.
Are you in South/West Wales by any chance? Absolutely no sign of these records breaking temperatures here. I just keep getting absolutely soaked through. I

I would like that! My grass isn't growing and I was dripping after a 5 minute dressage test this morning. Dreading tomorrow.

Spent the morning frying running an arena event. Now have one pink arm 🙄, from standing next to a car running commentary.

Home and out for a cooler pony ride. Couldn't do canter work as PC games practice happening in the field.

I’m actually in the north west (Cumbria)

Ive been up here walking this weekend! I dont think I have ever been as wet as i was yesterday up on the hills! So much water made its way down into my boots through my socks that the gortex gave up. The 2 men with leather boots did even worse, at least my water sort of ouzed back out!!

Today was stunning. I know UK weather is changeable, hill weather even more so, but now I am burnt!

Dressage was ok yesterday. Its very local and very friendly so I knew there wouldn't be any snooty comments if we reverted to cob trot instead of canter.

Prelim 1 pretty good. In fact I was so busy concentrating on canter that I let us down in the walk move & halt - we usually make up marks there. 67.8%

Prelim 3 I've never ridden before so was a bit distracted trying to remember it. The hooligan was furious at doing another and I didn't have time to load him on the lorry for a mid morning wee either which didn't help. Great scores until we got to the canter where he just ran out of steam. Screwed up the halt again too. 66.46% which I'm pleased with.

It was sticky yesterday but I think with the grass not growing he's in need of something to give him a bit more oomph.

From spending all of last year wondering if we'd ever get right lead canter let alone manage a 20m circle its nice to see all the hard work paying off!
