I have seen a nice mare in this line, I haven't had a mare for ages.....
I want to do a bit of everything then retire with nag, hack out and maybe breed the odd baby...
Ideas, comments please. Also in breeding.

Voltaire... sharp, athletic, quick-witted: gorgeous, but not for the faint-hearted

I've just bought a Voltaire grand daughter, she's good times on sires line. She's very clever, athletic and has taken an extra year to come in to her self (she's rising 5 but like a3 yr old) and has been royally taking the piss out of her last owner hence me ending up with her. She's too bright for her own good almost and learns very quickly, this means she learns good as well as bad a bit too quickly!

I have a Voltaire grandson, by Kannan (my boy's sire). He is very quick witted, nippy, learns very quickly, and is very talented. Does lack a little confidence, but pretty sure that is more to do with being pushed too hard, too fast rather than because of his bloodlines. He is a sweetheart, and is very trusting, but took a while to bond with me.

We have a Voltaire gelding, was a SJ, now being trained to event. Lovely person, quick to learn, now winning dressage after 6 months, thinks xc is great. Only slightly quirky but you need some attitude if going to be a good competition horse.

My horse's damsire is Voltaire and he is by a Darco/Irco Polo stallion. He is lovely, interestingly not sharp, very laid back and is just rising 6. I am meant to be Sjing and dressaging - he is very very careful. I think he is lovely - but I may be biased!! He moves very well is very trainable but interestingly for quite a quick horse struggled with picking up some things intially e.g. changes. He is very trusting and far too talented for me!!

I have Voltaire's grandson by Concorde. He hasn't had the greatest leg up in life, didn't have the greatest home from 6yo to 11, but he's 12 now and we've straightened him out and he is an absolute legend. Amazing considering the massive gap in his education, I often try to imagine what he would be like if it wasn't for that. Probably far too good for the likes of me!!!

Amazing, beautiful jump, very careful, but very fast - almost jumps me out of the saddle sometimes, though trying to find some better brakes to combat it. A wonderful dressage canter - always gets loads of praise from the judge. Still learning XC but will jump any spread or upright he is headed at, just has to build confidence in water/ditches/drops etc. He does headshake, however I think this was caused by very bad back for that not so good period in his life.

Finally, he is the sweetest "person" imaginable incredibly friendly and impeccable manners. I wouldn't swap him for anything.
