Just had this through on email from BD... very sad news

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Laurie Punnett died yesterday. Laurie was well known to so many riders not only here in Wales but throughout the UK. He was Chairman of British Riding Clubs for many years as well as a Trustee of the BHS. He was of course also the Chairman of Gower Riding Club. Laurie was totally committed to everything that he did and enjoyed being involved in anything equestrian.

I know he will be greatly missed by so many people.

BHS Chairman Patrick Print said

“In his element as a cross-country controller, witty and informed in the commentary box and totally dedicated as 'chef d'equipe’ for his wife Sarah, Laurie put his heart into the Riding Club movement, earning the respect and affection of all those who reaped the benefit. I will not be the only one mourning the loss of a very good friend today."

How sad, I met him several times a few years back and always thought what a nice man he was. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

My deepest sympathy to his family.
Laurie was always very helpful in my dealings with him.

oh my god how awful - have known laurie for years & bought a horse from his wife Sarah & theyve been so kind to me ever since.
My thoughts are with you Sarah xx

I heard this awful news yesterday.

Met him at all the Riding Club Championships over the years and he was always a chatty affable chap. He'll be greatly missed by all us RC members who have had the privilage of meeting him.
