lavender in bedding?

Hi have just cut down the dead flowering stalks from my lavender bushes would it be ok to mix some in with the bedding (straw shavings} for nice smell anti bug qualities, would it harm horse if he ate some, not sure if its poisonous?

not poisonous will keep certain things away but WILL attract bees!!!!!
