Lavinia Mitchell saddles and fitting

Ime, the saddles are lovely & Lavinia is very helpful. I didn't end up buying as after a very thorough fitting session, the only saddle that seemed to fit my mare, and me, still needed a gel grip pad and an H girth, which I wasn't comfortable with at the price. But I say that with the caveats that LP went beautifully in it, she's an absolute devil to fit (huge shoulder, very deep and far back girth groove, very short back), and she's in and out of work with longstanding lameness issues. I will consider Lavinia again if my other mare returns to work.
 
I love love love my lavinia mitchell dressage saddle had it nearly 3 years, my arab had some muscle wastage from a too narrow saddle which is why I contacted Lavinia and can honestly say its the best thing I ever did, I didnt think I would ever find a saddle that would fit, the concept is a bit different from most fitters she uses a shim numnah to make the saddle a better fit and it can help lift the saddle if the horse has hollows ad wastage.

I had her come out only last week as I am looking for one of her second hand saddles for my new horse, she is a very nice lady and she wil try and fit your current saddle if she can, she does not go in for the hard sell I would really recommend her.
 
I have a friend who has had saddles from her and she has nothing but good things to say I am going to get her this summer to sort out a saddle for my youngster.
 
Julie Roberts one of her fitters did my mums saddle. A difficult highland, she took hours and was really helpful! They won't sell you anything you don't want.
 
Sorry have only just seen this. The girl had so many issues with the saddle she was sold. It didn't fit, lavinia tried padding the saddle out to get it to fit. Still didn't fit, six months later girl managed to get a refund, saddle never did fit and was never going to
 
I have a Lavinia Mitchell saddle for a mare who has had an injury to her superspinous ligament and she loves it. It is a very 'big' saddle (deliberately so) but my mare appears to love it. And Lavinia was incredibly helpful when she came to fit it, allowing me to hire for a month, to see whether my mare would return to work successfully.
