Laws regarding kennels.

As in, you own show and breedings dogs and have them in runs in your back garden with a kennel. Dog warden informed person that wooden kennels aren't allowed and dogs should be kept in PVC ones.

Wood is not allowed for boarding but should be ok for own dogs.
You can have a breeding license with no kennels.

In that case can't see what the issue is. If all 3 bitches aren't breeding bitches then they don't even need a license (unless again the rules have changed, I'm a bit out of touch.) The dog warden isn't on commission from someone selling pvc kennels is he ;)

Dog warden knowledge and pedanticness ( if there is such a word ) varies hugely between councils. PVC are probably better in respect of no wood splinters when chewing but not illegal to have wooden kennels.

For anyone that runs kennels as a form of business that requires a license from your local council ie breeding or boarding or some rescue, then kennels will need to confirm to the most recent standards. Wooden kennels do not, most are now required to be either block build with tiling over or pvc. This is so kennels can be disinfected and halt the spread of disease. As your local dog ward is most likely contracted or works for the council, this is where he or she will have their information from.

If its your own personal pets and you dont breed as a business you should have to comply with the current licesening regulations.

Currant regs (KC) are that a breeding licence from the council is NOT required unless you breed five OR MORE litters per year. So..tell the DW to bog off/trot on ..whatever phrase springs to mind:D:D

The bottom line is to always get civil servants to confirm their statements of wisdom in writing.

Just had DEFRA do that (total nonsense!) and a copy of the letter was immediately forwarded to my MP who is dealing with it at the highest level. Should rattle a cage or two and maybe in the future they will be more careful!:D

Actually the law states that a breeding licence is required when five bitches of breeding age are kept which is a bit daft.
Someone with five bitches breeding two litters a year needs a licence. Someone with four bitches breeding four or more litters a year does not.
