My Grasmeres are coming to the end of their life and I think I’m going to replace them with something more practical as I only use my Grasmeres for wading through mud.

Looking at a pair of Le Chameaus. The neoprene lined are £170 which to me is extortionate for a pair of wellies! Are they really £45 better than the standard jersey lined?

Are a good pair of thermal socks not just as good?

I would imagine the jersey will wear out quicker.

Yes £170 does appear a lot but my pair are still going strong after 4.5 yrs of daily wear and will probably last another few years still.

I disagree, I don't the Le Chameau are worth the money.
I've had 2 pairs of the neoprene lined wellies and both started leaking before the year was up.
I've now bought a pair of neoprene lined Goodyear wellies for about £50 and my feet are just as warm in these.
I can't say how long they'll last as only had them a month

My Chameau's all cracked across the instep, I don't know if it's the way I flex my foot or not but the Outlast lined ones were very comfy. However I've since swapped to leather lined Aigles (Parcours 2 signature) and love them, they're warm and so easy to take on and off. Uttings.co.uk have them for £179.99, a good reduction from RRP of £245!

I have a pair of leather lined Le Chameau that will be ten years old next autumn, so well worth the investment and so so so comfortable. They are worn nearly every day in the shooting season.

I bought a pair of the neoprene lined ones a few years back but they caused my feet to overheat - even with thin cotton socks on days that were -5 degrees or less.

I love Le Chameau but just cant seem to jusitfy spending that much on a pair of wellies! Ive always been a Muck Boot co fan, I dont think they are made like they used to be so bought some Grub boots quite cheaply. Love the boots and seem really hard wearing but despte supposedly being warm up to minus 30 or something like that, I have had cold feet today :( IMO they dont live up to their expectations. Muck Boots all the way for me!

I managed to get le chameau country neos for £80. Deals are out there if you look for them. My last pair lasted years but given the use of them I’d be happy if they lasted 2 years
