Anyone else had bad experience with them? OH's wellies split a couple of weeks outside of warranty. Really disappointed as thought we'd finally found a good replacement after the problems we've had with Hunter.

Glad I went for Aigle now as le Chameau didn't fit. (And didn't want to look like "his and hers"!)
 
My friend had a pair which did much the same. Another friend had a pair of wellies replaced as they split after very little wear - I think, but not 100% - that they were Hunters (extra warm ones).

I just get Dunlops for £8.99 from my local feed store, I wear them lots and expect to buy a couple of pairs a year.
 
have you tried going back to Le Chameau and shaming them into replacing the wellies, even if slightly outside warranty? I am told that Twitter is a good way to 'encourage' companies to play ball, though i have no idea how you do it!
 
I contacted them and was fobbed off with line about them not being designed for equestrian use or use around animals! (Even though they weren't used for mucking out as our horses live out).

Wouldn't have a clue where to start with Twitter! :)

What rubbish from Le Chameau! Surely all their advertising is to do with country sports which are inseparable from animals! Do you know any teenagers? They can show you how to use Twitter.

(I have some Dubarrys which I am very pleased with... so far, 18 months on)
 
I had a problem with two successive pairs of Le chameau willies but Le Chameau were brilliant and replaced both pairs each time.

It seems that manufacturers are now putting this on most wellies, which I think is ridiculous. My use of wellies has not increased much over the years but the length of time my wellies last has definitely decreased! The disclaimers seems to be a way of getting around poor quality products. I have given up and buy cheap ones from farm shops, they ironically seem to last longer, even if they do look gross.
 
My OH had a problem with the a buckle breaking on his leather lined le Chameau wellies, got in touch, they asked him to send them back. Repaired FOC (can't remember if they were in warranty), came back to us swiftly and with a nice letter. Can't fault them. I am still with Aigle as my first pair lasted about seven years, I think that's good value for money!
 
I had hunters which split then the replacement s perished, got a pair of 8 quid dunlops and this is their second winter of intense yard work 7 days a week and have dry feet still!
 
My Le Chameau went after about ten months, hunters went in less then 3 months, I am currently in some kind of muck boots and they are so far alright and a lot cheaper then Le Chameau
 
i'm amazed to be reading this, i have a pair of LC and they have been excellent they are two years old and i have not had a problem with them despite wearing them nearly every day for those 2 years! the fluffy lining has perished around the ankles now but they are still waterproof, i just have the wear socks with them now!
 
I am totally an Aigle welly person. I have had the same pair for years and wear them every day. My lovely husband bought me a pair of neoprene lined ones for my birthday - tried the Chameau ones on but didn't like them as much. Unfortunately they are about the same price!! However, my new ones are utter heaven - when I stumble out of the back door first thing in the morning to feed the horses, I don't even need socks as they keep my feet so warm. Love them!
 
Another one with pair that have lasted years. I hear hunters used to last ages but are now not very good as now manufactured elsewhere. Maybe all brands are now doing this? You don't mind paying a lot for wellies if they last!
 
I had a pair of L C's about 10 years ago which lasted about 5 years. I then got numerous pairs of Muckboots which tended to last about a year so last Christmas I splashed out for another pair of L C's in the hope of them lasting about 2/3 years. They have just split on the inside of the foot, a small hole but enough to make my foot wet. Peed off is not the word. I have just rung the supplier to ask where I stand re. refund. They have said L C don't guarantee them after one year but she is ringing them to see what they say.

This is totally the opposite to Chameaus customer service!

Go to them direct. They will be brilliant!

Unfortunately, not in my experience. No joy with le Chameau in England. (Told it wasn't their problem and to take it up with retailer again). Given email of someone from le Chameau in France who was very dismissive. I know they were outside of warranty but only just and just hoped they would want to preserve their reputation.

Have to say, I'm really disappointed with what I thought was a premium brand. Hope my Aigles do better!
 
Nothing on earth could persuade me to spend that kind of money on a pair of wellies. I buy mine from the local farmer's shop for about £15 and they last for years.
 
I posted on a horsey group on facebook asking about which are the best wellies to use that will last doing yard work and alot recommended le chameau but I was reluctant to spend a fortune on a pair and then find that they broke a short while down the line. I ended up going to tesco and buying a pair from there and started a yard trend as now loads of us have them and so far they are standing up well to the wear and tear.

My dad spends most if not nearly all days in wellies and this has always been his approach. Doesn't seem to matter how much you spend on them; if you use them for actual work they are going to get tears/rips or something just go through them. So if you're using them every day chances are those luxury high priced ones are just not a viable option unless they come with a no quibbles life-time warranty.

Note far as I know there are some EU/UK laws on warranties and prices which basically gives a general statement that even though 1 year is standard, there are conditions where high priced goods are expected to have a certain viable life-span. Of course nearly all shops forget this fact and don't talk about it; but it might be something you could look into and use.
The other option is to hunt around and find a CEO or managers email and bug them directly; sometimes the people are the bottom of a company (Esp these days) really only read out what the computer tells them to with very restricted ability to do anything outside of that. So the higher up you go the more chance you find someone who CAN actually do something.
 
I've had my current pair for over 7 years of daily wear with no issues. They've split a little in the last year or so but don't let water in so in not replacing them just yet!
 
I always used the cheap Dunlop ones until this year when I bought some grubb wellies for about 60 quid. They've been so warm and comfy.
For the first time ever my heels haven't developed painful splits.
However the neoprene bit has got a hole in it, which is disappointing but I do hammer them.
