I bought my OH a pair of stupidly expensive Le Chameau wellies for Christmas. He is a farmer & spends nearly 12 hours a day in his wellies so reckoned a really 'good' pair would be a good investment. BUT they arent good. Lining is worn through already, the soles are rock hard & he can feel a lump right on the ball of his right foot.

I am sending them back but I am worried this is just what the boots are like rather than this being a 'bad' pair.

Any experiences?

I love mine - best wellies ever, I have one pair that is 12 years old and still going strong and they cost about £130 and I was bought a new pair by my father in law last year - leather lines with a full zip and they are fantastic. I live in wellies during the day and these are the only ones that last me any length of time. I suspect you have a really bad pair and I would definitely take them back.

I bought a pair of Le Chameau wellies about 5 winters ago, after taking 3 pairs of wellies back in as many weeks due to them breaking so quickly. The Le Chameau ones however have been fab and are probably the most comfy pair of shoes I own.

Which type does everyone wear?

We both have the Vierzonord wellies, I have the Jameson boots and OH has the Vatna boots

I bought my farmer OH half a pair last year and the lining went straight away on his too, they weren't the neoprene ones though. I think the neoprene ones are OK ( I have a pair) but the others are a bit useless!

I have just bought some Saddlecraft ones. they are neoprene lined and zips up the leg with buckle at the top. Fantastically warm and comfortable. Only cost £39 so i dont mind if they dont last forever. I have just ordered another pair so i have one pair for working in the dairy and one for walking the dog.

I was just looking at some today, thinking in advance for my birthday present! I've currently got a pair of the just togs neoprene ones, but I always tend to wear out the lining in the heel, and these went after a few months.

I am trying to decide between Le C or the Aigle ones... I figure they will be a good investment.

My erm OH (very new - that sounds odd lol) has pair of the neoprene line ones and swears by them...ive never had a pair myself but after him slagging off my hunters (orignal made in scotland ones) i might get a pair.

I have the neoprene lined ones with the full zip - lovely, and well used - I've walked miles in them (agronomy work!) and I've had them for a year with no signs of problems. OH had the cotton lined ones, and the lining wore through in a couple of weeks. He bought a neoprene lined pair, and they have been fab, no problems at all.

i have the neoprene lined with a zip and they are terrible - well, just my opinion of course! Lining is useless, they leak, the zip sticks, the sole is terrible in snow/ice and after a year of wear the 'outer' is now going so that I can see the blue neoprene from the outside. I admit I am hard on them and no boots I have last very long, but at the price I paid for these I would have expected more as they started to leak after they were about 6 months old. I am more than happy to pay for things that work but IMHO these definately don't!!!
