the young oldenburg stallion who sold for 1.1 million euros still appears to be infertile and has no mares pregnant. the university of hannover is currently trying to find out whats wrong.

This just in

Le Champ ASK, the 2008 Oldenburg Show Jumping Licensing Champion and record price selling stallion, is infertile. Blue Hors Stud purchased the stallion for a phenomenal 1,100,000 euro at the Oldenburg Stallion Licensing but now the grey proved to be unable to get mares in foal. None of the mares inseminated in Denmark and Germany were in foal. The stallion's semen quality seemed ok when it was tapped directly from the stallion, but mares never caught. The semen was researched by the Danish vet Jesper Møller Nielsen from the Ansager Animal clinic and by professor Sieme from the Equine High School in Hanover, Germany. Their results made Blue Hors decide to pull the stallion off the stud market.

OMG that is awful, he looked to be a fantastic horse as a 2.5yr old, fortunatly they didn't pay 1.1m for him!

I heard the agreed price for the horse prior to the auction was around 300,000, I think the 1.1m was just a pr/publicity thing.

Ask were transferring him to BH but another bidder came in last minute and so they had to go right up to 1.1m!
