That's really interesting thanks PC - they seemed quite light when I picked one up, but I take your point I shall try my set of New Equine Wear boots on him, I suspect they will be too small as I bought them for my little TB but who knows...
ETA - or of course I could speak to my yard owner who is sponsored by Husk
I use them and I like them. I don't think they're that heavy (though I've never seen the NEW or husk ones in the flesh...) probably lighter or similar to PE ones, and my horse is definitely less sweaty under them than any of his other boots.
I got some of the new generation ones with the flexible strike guard. I'm well impressed and they fit the weed TB perfectly. No sweaty legs, no slipping or spinning. For the money I think they're the best you can get.
I love mine and have had no problems with them - at one point they were worn almost daily for 9 months and have survived being chucked in the washing machine regularly.
Love mine. Fit ISH really well as PE's were too long and spun. These don't move. Don't find them heavy even after going through water a few times. Last well.
I had one of the early models which were great, had them years and still going strong. Then bought some of the ones that were metallic silver and they are not good - velcro is bad quality and the fit is different to the earlier ones. I've heard good things about the new style though.
Desperately wanted a set of these then saw them in the flesh and was really disappointed with the quality. I was looking at the Mark 2 though, they 3's may be totally different.
I just got the silver ones, and have been delighted with them. Fit (Medium) is absolutely perfect on my very small boned 15.2hh mare - (think matchstick type legs!) both in height and width. Quality is great, and they look super. I paid £60 for both sets brand new so rank among the cheapest XC boots I have purchased.
The catch?
The width is no good (too narrow) for my 14.2hh not very chunky cob (although height is good and any taller wouldn't fit him). They are too short + the fetlock bit too small on my 15.3hh ISH.
So I love them! But I am lucky they fit one of my horses and the others will keep their PE eventing boots.
