very sad...i hope Amy gets what she deserves! No rider, let alone that high up would/should let thei horse jump or even carry on cantering like that. I really think she needs to e-think what she has done and say sorry. There wasn't even a sorry in her statement! Even a beginner would have felt that horse when it was lame.....surely she would have?
'Le Samurai is very special to me and we share a deep bond that is beyond just competition.'
Well clearly not or she would have pulled up, and she doesn't even say she's sorry. Surely any rider, especially a professional, would have felt he was very lame. How did she think he would have been sound enough to SJ the next day anyway?
If she had pulled up straight away it might not have come to this.
I havent seen the incident that led up to the horse's terrible break-down so cannot comment on whether the rider was totally at fault or just running on adrealin (sp) but perhaps she's been advised not to say too much at this time and particularly not to say sorry??
A bad time for competion horses this week if you include the 2 at Badminton today.
she will have been advised not to say sorry as it would in part admit her liability....bit like industrial incidents, and a workplace not paying someone sick leave! - by paying you admit liability! (unless its painfully obvious the workplace IS at fault).
