Has anybody had a go at Le Trec, if so was it fun andwould you recomend having a go for sister and me, her on 17hh ShirexClydesdale and me on 15.3 Appaloosa, neither of us into jumping much, sister and large horse definitely not!

Yes, it's great....three parts
1 Route finding or orienteering part (map use, checking your pace to match that reqd) can do in pairs (not included in the indoor competitions)
2 Control of paces - marks for how slow your canter is and how fast the walk is over timed distance
3 Obstables of many types.. can miss out any you don't fancy and not eliminated. Can practise this lots at home

Informative website (but not very frequently used... : - ( ) is www.trec-uk.com
Look on the BHS website too for info and events in your area.
Everyone is very friendly and helpful...all sorts of horses and all sorts of riders. Enjoy!

Thanks Hornby, will try the site and may well give it a go in the spring, its nice to have something to aim for that all four of us can do, particularly when one of them is a heavy

My sister and I volunteered to help at a local event last year to see what it entailed and who with what took part. It was great, everyone very friendly and 'normal'. Recommend this method of getting to know people and we got food during day and bottle of wine at end! We are hooked and going to do some events this year.
Have a look at local website www.white-horse-trec.co.uk

I had a go a Le Trec last year. It was really good fun and only a local event so I just missed out the obstacles I was too much of a wimp to do!!!!!

I did a 'Semi Le Trec' (Le Trec without the orienteering phase) last year, it was good fun and made a nice change, and we came 4th out of about 30
